I want to serve as County Court Judge because this position uniquely combines two courts that directly affect the lives of our citizens every day—County Court and Youth Court.
County Court is often where people have their first experience with the justice system. I have practiced in County Court, and in addition to my work there, I am an adjunct professor at Mississippi College School of Law, where I teach the County Court Clinic. My goal is to prepare the next generation of lawyers to be thoughtful, ethical, and effective advocates who understand the real impact this court has on people’s lives.
Youth Court is a very different and highly specialized court, and it requires a specific skill set—one that I have developed over many years of hands-on experience. I have practiced in all positions in the court- guardian ad litem, juvenile defense, and now prosecution.
I have represented hundreds of children, and I learned firsthand that accountability and compassion must go hand in hand. Our children need education, structure, and second chances so they can grow into productive, responsible members of our community.
Our communities are severely lacking mental health resources and community groups that can support at risk children and families. Without those, we have nothing to offer kids who come into our court.
