The three biggest challenges facing constituents are affordability, maintaining trust in our public institutions, and preparing for responsible growth. Families are struggling with the rising costs of housing, groceries, healthcare, and childcare. At the same time, political division has made it harder for neighbors to work together, especially when issues of faith, education, and public policy become unnecessarily polarized. Finally, our region is growing rapidly, placing increased demands on roads, utilities, schools, and public safety. We need leaders who focus on practical solutions, fiscal responsibility, and bringing people together rather than dividing them.
I will focus on practical, data-driven solutions instead of partisan politics. That means advocating for investments in infrastructure, workforce development, and rural healthcare while ensuring taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly. I believe we should return more state resources to communities like the Upper Cumberland so local governments are better equipped to manage growth without placing additional burdens on taxpayers. I also believe elected officials should respect the constitutional freedom of religion by protecting every Tennessean's right to practice their faith, or no faith at all, without government favoring one belief over another.
The legislature should focus on increasing earning potential while reducing unnecessary financial burdens on working families. That includes investing in workforce training, expanding access to affordable childcare, protecting rural healthcare, encouraging housing development that meets community needs, and ensuring state funding keeps pace with growing communities. Affordability is about more than taxes. It's about making sure Tennesseans have the opportunity to earn enough to build a stable future.
Education is one of the strongest economic investments we can make. The legislature should fully fund public schools, increase support for teachers, expand career and technical education, strengthen dual enrollment and apprenticeship opportunities, improve school infrastructure, and ensure every student has access to modern technology and high-speed internet. Every child, regardless of their ZIP code, deserves a high-quality education that prepares them for college, careers, military service, or entrepreneurship.
The legislature should establish clear statewide standards that protect communities while encouraging responsible innovation. Data centers should be transparent about their water and energy use, contribute fairly to the infrastructure they rely upon, meet environmental standards, protect consumer data, and provide meaningful economic benefits to the communities that host them. Incentives should be tied to measurable public benefits, and local governments should have a strong voice in determining whether these projects fit their community's long-term plans.
