I'd like to have some of the State surplus funds used to help municipalities do capital projects so there won't be a need to raise taxes. Every community in the state is suffering from a lack of funding causing them to do wheel fees. The surplus is taxes already paid. That money should come back to the people.
In my community which is rural is suffering urban sprawl from Green Bay. Corporate real estate is building apartments but the rent is pushing 2k. There are no jobs in my community to support that cost. Also higher housing costs do affect seniors. Living on a limited income as taxes and utilities continue to go up, the cost of maintenance, is forcing seniors out of their homes. And for lower income folks, the higher housing costs are adding to the homeless problem
Gov. Evers did sign Act 94 into law. How ever as it is with the Republicans everything has to get drawn back into the courts. It's this back and forth that angers the public. I'm not a lawyer so I can't say just how a law could be drafted to possibly stop that. It's time consuming and it costs taxpayers money. Which in todays world people are short of
Again utilizing the surplus is key in helping communities, their infrastructure and their schools. I don't advocate emptying the surplus, let's use it wisely to help our communities, Which include smaller rural hospitals too.
I'm very proud of the Shawano county board who formed a special committee to address this issue. They've taken the initiative to do a moratorium on data centers. The thing that angered me to the core is the council who approved a data center then signed NDAs. Any elected official who has the audacity to under cut their voters in my opinion should be recalled.
As to the CAFOs It's been proven these are harmful to the environment, the waste they generate and what disposal of that waste does to water tables. To be clear we need better regulation of these large scale institutions. We already know the impact on human health, budgets and property values today. If we don't act now what will we be leaving our kids?
