After attending Delta Township Board meetings for 3 years, I saw an opportunity to bring a fresh, common-sense perspective and foster a Board culture open to new ideas and resident input. Studying meeting packets, speaking with residents and business leaders, and participating in public comment strengthened my commitment to serve with trust, transparency, accountability and public engagement.
I have been a Delta Township resident for 33 years and raised my family here. I spent a decade with the Michigan Townships Association, which advocates for all 1,240 townships and educates township officials. I also served as project coordinator for the United Dairy Industry of Michigan, working with state agencies and the Detroit Lions on student wellness. My community service includes Homeless Angels, Greater Lansing Food Bank, St. Vincent de Paul and St. Gerard Church, where I served as Pastoral Council Chair. I’m running to bring this experience and a fresh perspective to township decisions.
When families are working hard to make ends meet, every tax dollar matters. Affordability and fiscally responsible government spending are pressing issues for our township. As Trustee, I will advocate for scrutiny of spending, transparency in millage decisions, justification when higher-cost options are chosen over lower-cost alternatives, and listening sessions with residents and business owners.
Local government is entrusted with taxpayer dollars and must spend wisely, transparently and efficiently. Businesses face rising costs, workforce challenges and infrastructure needs. I will support government processes and policies that encourage investment and job growth.
Public engagement is vital. I will create regular listening sessions and topic-focused advisory committees such as housing, crime prevention and parks, giving residents a meaningful voice. People deserve to understand how decisions are made, how tax dollars are spent, and to know they are heard.
