16 years on city council. 4 years prior on planning commission. I continue to run to give back to the community that raised me.
The budget is almost always the most pressing issue facing council. Council just had to raise the mileage rate because of two things that we have no control over. 1 mil to cover the cost of the bond for the new DPW building that was precipitated by the state requiring the city to expand the wastewater treatment plant. .5 mil to cover the excessive assessment from the office of the drain commissioner for dredging Rayner drain. We need new industrial development to alleviate costs.

There must be consistent work done to prevent data centers from being brought to Mason. Not just repeating the same grievances which everyone knows about. There is a step-by-step process to achieve a development like this--- state level and local level. Be involved in every step, not just public comments. My experience is in growing public projects; we need positive alternatives to data centers: small business and ag ventures (support young families!), a permanent farmers market in this area (support nearby townships!), and "A Human Center," not a data center-- for sports, tutoring, human development across generations.

Sitting Mason Councilmember in my second term. I have a BA from Westetn Michigan University and a lifetime of experience working with individuals of differing opinions and ideas.
The overriding issue currently is a mega data center that wants to build in the Mason area. It's not wanted by the vast majority or Mason residents and the concerns regarding noise, lights and vibration are real. The City has done very little to protect our residents and our quality of life. We need more responsible zoning and an ordinance that will guard the City as well as the residents directly impacted by this poor judgement of City leadership.
