I spent 25 years in journalism, as reporter, editor and educator. Much of that time was spent helping the public to better understand their government.
That career includes 3 years as Corning bureau reporter for the Star-Gazette and 4 years at the Los Angeles Times. I've been a reporter in 5 states and have written on issues from planning and zoning all the way up the federal level.
I'm also the owner of a small business, MetaDreams LLC, which produces original games and laser-cut art. My business was started with the help of Incubatorworks, a nonprofit that helps businesses launch and grow. I have worked with and been a part of the Incubatorworks community for years.
For a better Chemung County:
• an economy that works for everyone
• small businesses driving revitalization
I believe in:
• transparency, accountability in government
• dignity and respect for all residents
We need to help small businesses get started in this county, to help turn the economy around.
I want to see more cooperation between Elmira city and the county on sharing services. This would lower taxes for residents.
I want to help the public know what the government is doing so that they can speak out and offer input before action is taken.
A county legislator needs to:
• Get the facts right
• Listen to all sides to understand the issues
• Have ongoing conversations with residents
• Look beyond partisan labels to find solutions

I have spent 18+ years in adult education and literacy, helping individuals access education, vocational training, and sustainable employment. My work involves securing and implementing state and federal grants, managing budgets, and building partnerships with workforce systems, social services, and community stakeholders. I have a proven track record of managing diverse teams, navigating multi-agency programs, and exceeding benchmarks while putting people first. This leadership, financial oversight, and collaborative experience directly benefit the role of County Legislator.
My priorities include:• Fiscal Responsibility: Using my extensive grant-management background to maximize external funding, ensure strict budget compliance, and keep local taxes low for families and retirees.• Workforce Development: Expanding vocational training and building strong partnerships with local businesses to secure sustainable, family-sustaining jobs.• Community Safety & Collaboration: Breaking down bureaucratic silos to streamline county services and keep our neighborhoods safe.• Transparent Leadership: Being your true voice by staying accessible and demanding accountability.
