VOTE411 Voter Guide

The affordability crisis is a widespread challenge, affecting working families across Onondaga County. I will push to make Onondaga County more affordable for working families by developing affordable housing options, starting county-owned and affordable childcare facilities, and expanding our bus routes as well as making them free for our county workers.

I want to provide funding for grocery stores and food pantries in our local food deserts and to financially incentivize them to buy from our local farmers to help boost our local economy. I plan to cut red tape surrounding starting and owning a business and provide support to new business owners.

Additionally, I will support the outcomes from the NYS study about communities affected by red-lining and racism in Onondaga County and push for the county to provide reparations to the affected communities in the form of direct payments to impoverished families.

I plan to push for the Onondaga County Legislature to move its Regular Session meetings to typical after work hours so our constituents can show up in person and make their voices heard. Additionally, I plan to work with local organizations to provide more townhall opportunities in my district. I want to share with my constituents about the work that the legislature is doing and hear about their concerns from them directly so I can bring that back to the legislature.

As a legislator, I will work closely with my constituent services staff and empower them to bring the concerns they’re hearing as well as potential solutions to me so we can best serve the residents of Onondaga County. In turn, I’ll be intentional about communicating with them so the concerned constituents get updates on progress and where we’re at, maintaining feedback loops with the community.
