I am an RN who volunteers with the Cherry Hill Free Clinic where I triage those whose don't have health insurance. I also volunteer at Cathedral Kitchen, where I serve meals to the homeless and to those struggling with rising food prices.
My top priorties are working with Camden City Council to create a Land Bank to address the vacant home crisis within the City. I would also like to address rising food prices by investing in more local food production and supporting food co operatives.
Camden County has the 2nd highest property taxes in the state but we are still very unequal in terms of quality of life. For emphasis, Camden City is the largest city in the County and has the highest poverty rates in the state. I would like to address that as County Commissioner. Also, Camden County residents are suffering from high energy costs that is hurting families. As Commissioner, I would oppose the creation of new AI Data centers within the County. AI Data centers not only raise electricity bills, they are also bad for the environment. Residents in nearby Vineland, NJ located in Cumberland County are dealing with higher energy costs because of the proposed data center being built in the area.
I support shared sevices at both the county and municipal levels. If it were up to me, I would take it a step farther and have the City of Philadelphia and Camden City pool there resouces together and work to address common concerns. For example, Philadelphia also has a problem with abandoned homes and they established a Land Bank to address the issue. They could provide expertise to local Camden officials on how the concept of land banking could work.
I would like voters to know that my sole purpose for running for Camden County Commissioner is to improve my local community. I am not a career politician who has been in office for 30 years. I simply want to make my local neighborhood livable.
