The health of Michigan's education system is critical to our economic development. I will fund our public school system to the maximum extent possible in order to provide the necessary services to our students with disabilities.
We need to recruit and retain more qualified teachers in order to provide the best instruction for our students.
We need to meet the basic needs of our low income families in order for those students to get the necessary nutrition, housing, and support to succeed on our standardized tests.
The high cost of living has made it impossible for some people to live above the poverty line with a single job. Everyone that has a job should be able to earn a live above the poverty line.
I support a safety net for our low income and unemployed households as well as providing incentives and assistance to small businesses that drive our local rural economies.
While renewable energy is the future, we also need to lower our electric rates, which are among the highest in Michigan. We shouldn't prematurely shut down our conventional energy generation without a viable alternative for our extreme winters.
I support the growth of wind, solar, and all renewable energy, so long as the local units of government or voters approve the projects.
I promise to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America.
