Qualifications and Experience Luke has experience in community development, small business support, nonprofit leadership, and the creative economy, with a focus on strengthening local communities and bringing people together.
Michigan has great teachers, students, and families, but we keep asking schools to do more with less. I support stable, fair funding that meets the needs of each student, better pay and support so we can keep good teachers in the classroom, and stronger career and skilled trades pathways. Standardized testing should help us understand where students need support, not punish schools or replace real teaching.
Michigan families are working hard and still falling behind. That is not a personal failure - it is a policy failure. I support raising wages, protecting workers, expanding access to childcare, lowering health care costs through MiCare, and investing in housing people can actually afford. We also need to support small businesses and downtowns so good jobs are created in our own communities, not just handed to big corporations.
Michigan needs energy that is reliable, affordable, and protects the land and water we depend on. Families should not be stuck with rising bills while utility companies avoid accountability. I support a stronger grid, clean energy, home efficiency, and keeping nuclear on the table when it is safe, cost-effective, and accountable. We can protect our environment and lower costs if we plan for people, not just profits.
My father came from the Philippines because he saw a better life here in America for the family he wanted to build, and he became a citizen. That shapes how I see these rights. Due process, free speech, privacy, and protection from unreasonable searches must apply to all Michigan residents, including noncitizens. Government should not cut corners with people’s rights. I support fair treatment, legal representation, privacy protections, and accountability under the law.
