I believe every student deserves access to a high quality public education regardless of their ZIP code. While Michigan has made progress, we still face challenges with school funding, teacher retention, and student support services. I support investing in educators, expanding resources for students, and ensuring schools have the tools they need to help every child succeed. Standardized testing should be one measure of success, not the only one.
Michigan families deserve an economy that works for them. I support policies that help workers earn a living wage, protect earned benefits like paid sick leave, and create pathways to economic stability. I'm also focused on expanding affordable housing, supporting small businesses, and investing in local economic development so families can build long-term financial security.
In Michigan, residents need secure and affordable access to energy utilities without fear of unfair hikes and sporadic outages. In order to expand that access and we need to promote and ensure transparency from our utility providers so that everyone gets a fair deal. In regards to our environment, Michigan has access to a wealth of natural resources: the Great Lakes, vast river networks, bounty forests and woodlands, and so much more. While I believe in promoting industry and enterprise, this cannot come at the cost of degrading the environment that have long supported the health and well-being of our communities.
I believe due process and the First and Fourth Amendments apply to every person in Michigan, including noncitizens, and must be protected consistently. These rights are foundational to our democracy and ensure fairness, freedom of expression, and protection from unlawful government action. I support policies that strengthen civil liberties, expand access to due process, and ensure law enforcement practices are transparent, accountable, and consistent with constitutional protections. I do not support efforts that weaken these rights or create unequal standards under the law.
