Qualifications and Experience
As a proven community organizer, human rights and disability rights advocate for over a decade, I led grassroots movements for major, systemic change, including for the special education schools.
As a proven human rights, educational, and disability rights advocate for over a decade, my top priority is to ensure educational justice and high quality education for all students.
Educational justice requires greater funding to ensure high quality education for all students, including students in underserved or poor communities.
Educational Justice requires greater funding for teachers and support staff and students. It includes specialists and support for students with disabilities, learning disabilities, and mental health challenges. The support staff may include aides, tutors, nurses, social works or psychologists, and specialists
As the former Vice Chair of the Progressive Caucus of the Michigan Democratic Party, I have consistently and boldly advocated for raising the minimum wage to a living wage. The Progressive Caucus of the Michigan Democratic Party has endorsed only my campaign in this race.
I will fiercely support worker rights, working conditions, unions, and strong bargaining power for unions.
I will also actively work with our communities to explore and develop a myriad of options for more affordable housing, including but not exclusively, manufactured homes and tiny homes. I will also work to ensure grants for independent owners.
Of utmost importance in our environmental policy is environmental justice --- how policies affect poor communities, communities of color, tribal communities, our future generations, and all underrepresented communities.
My progressive position is to shut down Line 5. We must protect our waters, tribal communities, and Michiganders from the danger of any possible oil spill. Water and oil do not mix!
We must become less reliant on imported energy. We must also protect our communities whenever the proposal of data centers are introduced. As an activist, I would fight for a strong voice for the people.
Firstly, I am an immigrant and a naturalized citizen. I will make every effort to protect our neighbors and families from ICE. Moreover, as a longtime activist, I will help elevate the voice of our beautiful, woke community members for protecting our neighbors against any racist targeting or actions with due process (or a judicial warrant).
Therefore, as an immigrant and activist for over a decade, I will be the fiercest defender against injustice, racist targeting, and discrimination. Injustice anywhere is injustice everywhere. I love how the people of HD80 stand strong in caring for all of our neighbors.
