Michigan’s education system has strong teachers and communities, but outcomes and opportunities vary too much by district. We need more equitable funding so students are not disadvantaged by their zip code, and we must do more to retain teachers through better pay, support, and reduced administrative burdens. I also believe standardized testing is overemphasized. Testing should be one tool rather than the primary measure of success. I support strengthening career and technical education, skilled trades, and financial literacy programs so students are prepared for multiple paths after graduation.
Michigan needs an economy where working people can actually afford to live. This means supporting policies that expand access to good-paying jobs, protect workers, lower housing costs, and invest in skilled trades and career education. I support strengthening small businesses, expanding workforce development programs, increasing housing supply to improve affordability, and ensuring full-time workers can earn a living wage without relying on public assistance. I also believe we need greater transparency and accountability for corporate tax incentives to ensure taxpayers are seeing real economic benefits in return.
Michigan needs an energy strategy that keeps power reliable, affordable, and sustainable. Families shouldn’t be dealing with constant outages while paying higher utility bills. I support modernizing the grid, improving infrastructure, and expanding diverse energy sources so we’re not overly dependent on any one system. Utilities should also be held accountable for reliability and rate hikes. We can protect Michigan’s water and natural resources while still pursuing practical energy policies that support jobs, economic growth, and long-term stability.
All Michigan residents, regardless of immigration status, should be protected by the Constitution. Due process, First Amendment, and Fourth Amendment rights are not optional and must be upheld in practice, not just in principle. I support ensuring that law enforcement actions comply with constitutional standards, including limits on unlawful searches, seizures, and detention without due process. I do not support policies that erode civil liberties or create parallel systems of justice based on immigration status. Any reforms should focus on public safety while maintaining constitutional protections for everyone living in Michigan.
