Our public schools are chronically underfunded. We must strengthen school funding by fixing Proposal A so per-pupil funding keeps pace with inflation and student needs. Schools also need additional funding for transportation, ESL programs, special education services, mental health resources, and classroom materials.

Teacher burnout and staff shortages are also making it harder for schools to provide students with consistent high-quality instruction. Standardized testing and rigid teacher evaluation systems place additional stress on educators, parents, and students. We must ensure teachers are compensated fairly while increasing staffing.
If elected, I will fight for universal childcare, lowering utility rates, capping the cost of prescription drugs, and making healthcare more affordable for all Michiganders. I am an avid proponent of universal childcare, including all daycare, preschool, and Young 5’s programming. Additionally, as families are struggling to pay their utility bills, we must pay legislation to stop the ever increasing rate hikes we’ve seen for electric, gas, and water across our state.

I have never taken a dime of corporate money, especially from big utility companies, because I am beholden only to my community and I will fight for corporate accountability.
Working families across Michigan are struggling to afford their utilities as prices skyrocket and reliability deteriorates. The profits utility companies earn from working families in Michigan should not be used to influence public policy, but instead should be invested in making substantial improvements to reliability. Therefore, if elected I will support legislative reforms to prohibit monopoly utilities from political spending. I will also support legislation requiring any rate increase approved by the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) be tied to measurable improvements in reliability and customer service.
The United States Constitution is clear - any person who is present within US borders has the right to due process, regardless of immigration or citizenship status. I believe the government must respect all legal rights of every Michigan resident. The First and Fourth Amendments apply to our immigrant neighbors who should not be subjected to unreasonable searches or detainment.

If elected, I will support the current package of bills in the State House to protect communities from ICE, including HB 4858 to prevent state and local government agencies from sharing personal information with immigration authorities without a warrant.
