Qualifications and Experience Lisa is the former President of the Northville School Board and currently Treasurer. She provides client care and clinical leadership at a group outpatient counseling practice in Northville.
As a Northville Public Schools Board of Education trustee and licensed mental health counselor, I see both the strengths of Michigan schools and the unmet student needs and staffing shortages caused by inequitable funding. I support a funding formula that better reflects student needs, policies to recruit and retain qualified teachers, and a more balanced approach to testing. Standardized tests can be useful, but they should not dominate how we judge students or schools. Michigan should value critical thinking, creativity, and real-world skills, while ensuring every child has access to a strong public education.
As a trustee on Northville Public Schools Board of Education and a licensed mental health counselor, I see how housing, childcare, and health care costs block families from stability. Michigan residents deserve a living wage and affordable basics. I support raising wages, expanding workforce development and training for students and residents in growing industries, expanding affordable childcare, and increasing affordable housing with renter protections. When families can afford to live and work here, Michigan’s economy strengthens.
Reliable energy is essential for families, schools, and businesses. I support modernizing Michigan’s grid with investments in infrastructure, renewable energy, and resilience to extreme weather, while keeping costs affordable for households and small businesses. Michigan should lead in clean energy jobs and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. I also believe we must protect the Great Lakes, public lands, and waterways as critical natural resources for future generations.
I support full due process and First and Fourth Amendment rights for all Michigan residents, including noncitizens. Constitutional protections should apply to everyone, and state and local policies must reflect that. I support clear limits on unlawful searches, seizures, and data sharing, with guidelines for law enforcement that respect civil rights and build trust. Michigan should ensure residents can access schools, health care, and essential services without fear of discrimination. Immigration enforcement is a federal issue; Michigan can still protect residents by upholding rights and preventing state or local actions that undermine them.

Michigan's education system needs reform. The main issue I will address is taxation. DON'T TAX TEACHERS. Teachers and all school employees should be exempt from state income tax. This would effectively give the average teacher a nearly $6,000 raise. Next, credentialing needs to be broadened to include Just because a teacher isn’t certified, doesn’t mean they aren’t qualified. My Best Teachers Period initiative would make sure that Michigan offers provisional and temporary teaching certificates. This would allow good teachers who are not certified, but have the qualifications necessary to teach to teach in our schools.
I don't like the term "Living Wage". Not every job should provide a "living wage". As a teacher, I also work odd jobs over the summer. I shouldn't expect those jobs to support me. Nevertheless, affordability is a major concern cause by inflation. I would immediately lower the CIT so small businesses can lower their prices. Many businesses are burdened by taxation and have to raise their costs to keep the lights on. I would also implement a scaffolded small business tax which would help protect startups from taxes for the first five years of existence.
I would protect Michigan farmland from development. We need to preserve our farmland and preserve our natural resources. I am a Republican in the likeness of Teddy Roosevelt. Our duty as humans is to steward this earth. I would reject the green new scam and Whitmer's green mandates which became a burden to businesses and residents and destroyed fertile farmland all over this great state. I would not give tax subsidies to wind farms which pollute the soil and kill birds or solar farms which destroy the microbiome of the soil and the flora and fauna.
I believe in following the heart and the letter of the law. It is not an either or. We must be a state that respects and values law and order. Criminals and illegal aliens deserve their day in court. Our system was taken advantage of. I would wholeheartedly support law enforcement. Americans have the right to freely express themselves insofar as that expression is not inciting violence. We need to respect one another. Treating the other side as an enemy is wrong. Using violent rhetoric against your political opponents is wrong. I will not engage in that type of mudslinging.
