Michigan has the foundation for strong schools, but inconsistent funding and persistent teacher shortages still hold too many districts back. We need to keep increasing investments so that every district can recruit and retain qualified educators and provide students with the support they rely on every day. Standardized testing should be one tool for measuring progress, not the driver of instruction or curriculum. My focus is on strengthening the educator workforce, improving funding equity, and ensuring every student has access to a high-quality public education.
Michigan families are feeling real pressure from rising costs, and we need policies that help residents earn a living wage and build long-term stability. I support stronger workforce pathways such as CTE, apprenticeships, and access to higher education, along with raising wages and expanding affordable housing so people can live in the communities where they work. I also believe in a fair, sustainable tax system that lets us invest in the services families rely on while keeping everyday costs manageable. My focus is on building an economy where working families can get ahead.
Michigan needs an energy strategy that keeps power reliable and affordable while protecting our air, water, and public health. I support continued investments in grid modernization, energy efficiency, and clean energy that lower costs for families and reduce long‑term risks from outages. We also need strong oversight to ensure utilities are accountable for reliability and transparent about how ratepayer dollars are spent. My focus is on building an energy system that is resilient, affordable, and sustainable for Michigan communities.
Every person in Michigan deserves due process and the basic constitutional protections that keep communities safe and free, including the First and Fourth Amendment rights that apply to all residents. I support policies that ensure people can access legal protections, speak without fear, and avoid unlawful searches or detentions, regardless of immigration status. I also believe the state should work with local partners to connect immigrant families with trusted resources and ensure fair treatment in every interaction with the government. Protecting these rights strengthens public safety and builds trust across our communities.
