Michigan has made progress in education funding, but significant challenges remain. We must continue investing in students, modern school facilities, and programs that address learning loss and mental health needs. Teacher recruitment and retention require competitive pay, reduced administrative burdens, and stronger support for educators. Standardized testing should be used as one measure of student progress, not the sole indicator of success. I support equitable funding, career and technical education opportunities, and policies that help every student succeed regardless of ZIP code.
Michigan families deserve an economy that works for them. I support policies that strengthen wages, expand workforce development, and create pathways to good-paying jobs. We must address affordability by increasing access to affordable housing, lowering the cost of childcare, protecting seniors on fixed incomes, and reducing barriers to employment. Investments in infrastructure, small businesses, and skilled trades can help grow local economies while ensuring residents can support themselves and their families with dignity.
Michigan must maintain a reliable and affordable energy system while protecting our natural resources for future generations. I support an all-of-the-above approach that includes modernizing our electric grid, improving energy efficiency, expanding clean energy investments, and strengthening infrastructure resilience. Consumers deserve transparency and affordability, while businesses need dependable power to grow. We can balance economic growth, environmental stewardship, and energy reliability through responsible planning and innovation.
The Constitution protects fundamental rights, including due process, free speech, and protection from unreasonable searches and seizures. These principles are essential to maintaining public trust and the rule of law. I support policies that ensure all individuals are treated fairly and that constitutional protections are respected while maintaining public safety. Immigration enforcement should be conducted lawfully, transparently, and with respect for civil liberties and human dignity.
