Occupation / Current Position Consultant
Education I attended Kettering High School, in Detroit, and Central State University, where I studied Business Administration.
Qualifications and Experience As a three-term Detroit Police Commissioner, I have fought for public safety, police accountability, civil liberties, and transparent government. My decades of community leadership and public service.
Every child deserves access to a high-quality public education regardless of one's ZIP code. We must attract and retain excellent teachers through competitive pay, classroom support, and respect for their profession. School funding should be equitable and transparent, ensuring resources reach students who need them most. Standardized tests should be used as one measure of progress, not the sole measure of success. I support expanding career and technical education, strengthening literacy, and ensuring graduates are prepared for college, skilled trades, or the workforce.
Michigan families deserve wages that keep pace with the cost of living. I support policies that create good-paying jobs, strengthen collective bargaining, invest in infrastructure, and help small businesses grow. We must reduce unnecessary barriers to entrepreneurship while expanding workforce training and apprenticeships. Addressing affordability also means increasing access to affordable housing, lowering healthcare costs, and ensuring working families can build financial security without being priced out of their own communities.
Michigan needs an energy policy that is reliable, affordable, and environmentally responsible. We should modernize our electric grid, encourage a diverse mix of energy sources, and invest in technologies that improve efficiency and resilience. Protecting our Great Lakes and drinking water must remain a top priority. I support practical environmental policies that reduce pollution while preserving good-paying jobs and keeping energy costs affordable for families, seniors, and small businesses.
The Constitution protects fundamental rights, and those protections, including due process and First and Fourth Amendment rights, must be respected. Public safety and civil liberties are not opposing values; they reinforce one another. Law enforcement should focus on genuine threats to our communities while respecting constitutional limits. I support fair, transparent legal processes and oppose unlawful searches, censorship, or the denial of due process. Our justice system should reflect both security and the rule of law.

I think the education system in Michigan, as with the rest of the country is wildly underfunded and under staffed. The working class must make a fight to demand better conditions for students and teachers, as the politicians currently in office only really represent the interests of big business.
The only way I think that the working class can meaningfully address the issue of this cost of living crisis is to get organized and take to the streets. We can only put pressure on the capitalist class by a mass strike wave. We must hit them where it hurts, just as they are doing to working people, in their pocket books.
As I have said above, I think the only way the working class can actually defend itself and stop the degradation of our environment is by making a fight with clear demands.
All working people have the same interests and all immigrants deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. All immigrants should have a clear and simple path the citizenship. But again, this can only be achieved through a fight made by a united working class, acting in the interests of all working people.
