The Michigan Education system will benefit from more funding and other support. Most teachers are overworked and underpaid. Teachers can teach more effectively if their class rosters are limited to 25 students or fewer. Our education system is struggling with students' proficiency. Michigan's education programs struggle with staffing shortages and chronic absenteeism, which obstruct daily student learning. Standardized testing and teacher evaluations should not be tied to these issues. The bottom line is that impact measurement should be based on individual student growth in reading.
I support initiatives to decrease state tax revenue and fund localized housing development. Employment, workforce training, and investing in clean energy will aid in improving affordability across Michigan.
I would approach our environmental and energy stability through home weatherization and energy efficiency. I would like to see more community solar and more shared solar models in Michigan.
In Michigan, residents' rights must be respected. Residents have the right to fair procedures before they can be convicted of a crime or have their rights restricted. Residents and noncitizens are guarenteed due process under the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments of the U.S. Constitution and the First and Fourth Amendments of Michigan's Constitution. All are entitled to fair treatment under the law. Michigan noncitizens should be entitled to obtain a Michigan Driver's License with proper paperwork.
