Our students are falling behind because our state has failed to prioritize the very foundation of our future. We must demand equitable, full funding for every school, moving beyond the late budget processes that leave schools in limbo. It is time to reject political attacks on inclusive curriculum when systemic underfunding is the real crisis in our classrooms. Educators should be paid as the professionals they are, and school budgets, not teachers' pockets, should cover all necessary classroom supplies. Finally, we must end the era of over-standardized testing and replace it with diverse assessments that recognize unique potential.
The rising cost of living is the defining challenge facing our community, and while federal inaction has left families struggling, I’m focused on real, state-level action to lower utility bills and strip corporate influence from our politics. My campaign refuses corporate donations, and as an elected representative, I will reject corporate favors entirely. My mission is simple: policy that puts people before corporate profits. My top priority is ending utility rate gouging. We need immediate freezes on rate hikes and comprehensive reform of the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC), shifting it from an appointed board to an elected one.
The unchecked expansion of data centers is an environmental and economic disaster, endangering our water, increasing noise pollution, and forcing families to pay higher rates to subsidize infrastructure for private tech giants. DTE and Consumers Energy must be held accountable. I am calling for a moratorium on new data centers and a 5-year freeze on all utility rate hikes. Lastly, I want to move policy to end DTE and Consumers Energy marketing, as they enjoy monopoly status and should be putting that money into the infrastructure needs without raising rates.
Every person, regardless of citizenship status, deserves dignity, due process, and the freedom to live and move without fear. We must end the systemic collaboration between local police and federal immigration agencies. I am committed to banning 287(g) agreements and passing legislation to strictly limit immigration enforcement in our cities, ensuring our communities remain safe and welcoming for all. I believe all people should have a path to citizenship and should be afforded the right to seek it without fear of deportation in the meantime.
