Occupation / Current Position Former Public Health Official, Public Servant.
Education I graduated from the University of Michigan with highest distinction and played for the men’s lacrosse team. I earned my medical degree at Columbia and a doctorate from Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar.
Qualifications and Experience Son of Michigan, public servant, doctor, public health official who rebuilt Detroit’s Health Department, author of “Medicare for All: A Citizen’s Guide,” card-carrying union member, & proud girl dad.
As a doctor and public health official, one of the first pieces of legislation I will sponsor in the US Senate would be a bill to enact Medicare for All and eliminate medical debt nationwide. I spent my career fighting to fix our healthcare system and even wrote the book "Medicare for All: A Citizen’s Guide" to help everyday people understand how we can achieve a system that works for everyone. Beyond introducing legislation, I will use this office as a platform to change the conversation about healthcare in America and continue to galvanize a movement to elect leaders across the country who support Medicare for All.
It shouldn’t be this hard for Michiganders to earn a living wage and build a dignified life. I’m fighting for a bold economic agenda: raising wages, restoring union power, guaranteeing healthcare for all, and standing up to corporate greed. We must raise the minimum wage, end subminimum pay, and protect workers’ rights. I’ll deliver tax relief for working people and make the ultra-wealthy pay their fair share. I’ll fight for Medicare for All, abolish medical debt, and stop people from choosing between rent and medicine. I’ll crack down on price gouging and invest in affordable housing, childcare, and debt-free education.
In Michigan, families are squeezed by soaring energy bills while utilities make record profits and polluters get a free pass. I’ve spent my career fighting for public health and economic justice, and I’m ready to take on the corporate interests blocking progress. My plan: make big data centers and heavy industry pay their fair share, so costs don’t fall on working people. I’ll end fossil fuel subsidies, invest in a modern grid powered by 100% clean energy, and guarantee affordable water for all. We must hold polluters accountable, protect our Great Lakes, and ensure the clean energy transition delivers good union jobs in every community.
No one is above the Constitution, and no one should be denied its protections. Every Michigan resident—regardless of birthplace or status—deserves the rights promised by Due Process, the First Amendment, and the Fourth Amendment. We need a fair immigration system that treats people with dignity, ends summary deportations, creates truly independent courts, and guarantees legal counsel. I will oppose efforts to criminalize peaceful protest or activism. I support abolishing ICE, protecting schools and hospitals from raids, banning racial profiling, and ending qualified immunity for abuses of power.

Occupation / Current Position CEO
Education University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and Fox Valley technical college
Qualifications and Experience Equivalant of two college degrees in computer science and computer programming. Community organizing, Developer and technical background
I support Medicaid for All as an opt-in plan: keep your employer or union plan if you want it, or enroll in a public plan with one transparent premium, no deductibles, no surprise bills, and income-based costs that are zero for lower-income families. Unlike the ACA subsidies Congress let expire in 2025, it would be mandatory spending that cannot lapse. It is not a monopoly equal tax treatment, repeal of Certificate of Need laws, and interstate license reciprocity keep private plans competitive. Coverage extends to psychiatric care and addiction treatment where counties have no providers, and no one may reclassify a doctor-prescribed treatment
I support a $15 federal minimum wage, adjusted for inflation, and zero federal income tax on earnings under $150,000, so a nurse, teacher, or electrician keeps every dollar below that line. Tariffs cost the average household about $1,745 a year; I will remove them. Interstate license reciprocity lets a license earned in Michigan count in other states. My housing plan adds supply through zoning incentives and builder credits, closes corporate landlord loopholes, and ends algorithmic rent fixing. Childcare rules written for institutions, not family homes, must be included because without childcare, most people cannot work.
Energy reliability and affordability start with equal treatment under the tax code for every energy source, ending the fossil fuel carve outs that let oil and gas deduct drilling costs while renewables cannot. Wind and solar sit in federal permitting queues for years; I will fix that queue and push nuclear licensing reform without cutting safety standards. Michigan caps electric choice at 10 percent, maxed out since 2009 with thousands waitlisted; I support lifting it. I support ending $35 billion a year in fossil fuel subsidies and decommissioning Line 5 in the Straits of Mackinac, honoring Anishinaabe treaty rights and protecting our water.
Due process applies to everyone on American soil, citizen or not, and I oppose detaining anyone without it. I also oppose warrantless surveillance and facial recognition dragnets that have swept in Americans' calls, texts, and emails, targeted protesters exercising First Amendment rights, and traced cars without warrants. The Constitution matters i would repeal the unconstitutional 100 mile constitution free border zone: all searches inland require probable cause and a warrant, as they do for every other law enforcement agency. Incarcerated Americans and noncitizens alike remain within the law's protection under my plans.

I will work towards increasing the number of people training to be doctors in Michigan and towards a program that would incentivize them to move to areas where they are needed the most. Also, I would advocate for federal money to support rural health care facilities.
I will support a federal initiative to improve the production and distribution of electricity in Michigan and across the nation. A robust electrical system will improve everyone's bottom line. The smooth movement of goods across Michigan and the nation would also improve affordability. Of course, lowering taxes and the amount our government borrows by eliminating wasteful spending would help. These improvements that the government can make will make our paychecks go farther, but the government needs to intercede for the workers to ensure that they are making a living wage.
Environmental protection is of the utmost importance in Michigan. The penalties for breaking the laws that already exist must be enforced to the fullest extent. The legal head of any business must be held responsible for any breach of environmental law that their business partakes. Many of the environmental laws already in existence need to be reviewed to make sure they are adequate.   As U.S. Senator I would work to overhaul the national energy grid. This would ensure energy reliability for all. Consumer affordability can be ensured by improving all the aspects of moving goods to and from markets, reliable energy, minimal taxation and plus.
Noncitizens should be afforded due process and have the rights that the first and fourth amendment delineates.
