How can you ensure that Berkeley County officials work first on infrastructure readiness (including school capacity) rather than development approvals first and fixes later?
What can an individual County Council member do to address worries that public safety obligations are not keeping up with current demand, let alone future demand?
How would you work to ensure Berkeley County remains attractive to businesses while also protecting the everyday livability of the communities?

This deals with priority. As your next Councilman, my priority will be responsible growth. We must grow in a manner that is efficient for the community. That is also holding developers responsible for the part they play in that growth. I would encourage developers to meet with the community to find a common ground. Developers need to know the problems the community faces. This helps them put together a plan that the community can get behind on. Developers cannot simply build homes to make a profit. Developers must ensure that the homes being built are advancing the quality of life for the county's citizens. When one's quality of life is negatively affected, then we have lost our main priority. I will ensure that my priorities remain intact, and that's advancing the quality of life for the county residents.
The individual member can address these issues in several ways. First, the member must know their district and its needs. To know the needs of the district, you must be actively engaged in your district. Second, I would propose a strategic planning session with county officials. I would use that time to find solutions to incentivize public safety officials to stay in the community. I would also like to have those sessions to find ways to expand our services to areas in our community that may have limited access.
I believe the county has done a decent job in the OneBerkeley plan. The plan ensures that our economic development team remains actively engaged in the business community to attract businesses to our county. Businesses bring growth to the area. Our living spaces must remain intact. The current plan ensures that we are putting businesses in a position to succeed by placing them in areas where infrastructure or services exist. By having this in place, the district succeeds in bringing in business, the citizens succeed by having an opportunity to gain high-level employment, and the county succeeds by maintaining the essence and culture of the community. I would continue that level of work with the county as your next councilman by keeping all three items as a priority in bringing attractive businesses to our area and maintaining the livability of the community.
