I am a parent of young children, a wildlife biologist, and outdoor enthusiast. These characteristics shape my priorities. I believe that accessible (physically and financially) and well maintained parks facilities, youth based programing, and year-round opportunities for kids to be active are essential for supporting young families. I also want to advocate for nature-based recreation.
The $33 million in deferred maintenance costs while also trying to expand operations is likely the most pressing challenge. I would take an active role in fundraising through grants and sponsorships to help alleviate maintenance costs. I would also take a close look how facilities and programs are being utilized to look for potential redundancies that could be eliminated.
As a scientist, I have been taught to think objectively. This translates well to making informed budgetary decisions. I would also invest time into learning about the budgeting process and researching the options and limitations around sales and property taxes.
In the short term, playgrounds throughout Jamestown should continue to be improved. In the long term, I would advocate for expanding recreational activities during the winter months. This includes prioritizing an indoor playground and identifying ways to make it accessible to all residents.
The most important part is that Jamestown residents are represented in the decisions that are being made. As a parks commissioner I would make sure that future investments improve the quality of life for everyone.

JPRD recently completed a strategic plan; the priorities the community identified fit closely with mine. I do believe we need to investigate the feasibility of an outdoor pool. We need to upgrade our bathrooms. Expand our trail system and an explore and indoor playground.
JPRD faces $33 million in deferred maintenance, and addressing this issue is crucial to ensure our parks are safe and all equipment is up to date.
I am a fiscally responsible leader. I know how important it is to be a good steward of the taxpayers' money. The community would like new amenities, but it is always a struggle as we want to be mindful of keeping our property taxes as low as we can.
We are always looking for ways to improve our parks. As a board and staff, we prioritize the parks' needs, implement our strategic plan, and align it with our budget.

We are working on that, as we plan to renovate all the bathrooms and make them accessible. We need to have accessible playground equipment in all of our parks.
