What are your top priorities?

What would you do to ensure adequate funding for the needs of the school district?

What role do school board members have in driving the academic outcomes of students in the district?

How would you support the recruitment and retention of teachers and staff?

How would you be a champion for the school district?

My top priorities are ensuring every student graduates Choice Ready for college and career, providing robust support for our educators, and maintaining a commitment to measurable academic achievement through transparent data.
I will advocate for the strategic evaluation of our health care reserve to prevent budget volatility, ensure that savings from operational efficiencies such as the Custer Elementary transition are directly reinvested into classroom resources, and aggressively pursue commercial tax base growth to support our schools without placing the full burden on residential homeowners.
The school board’s role is to provide oversight of administration, empower educators with the tools they need, and ensure that every taxpayer dollar is tethered to measurable student growth. By maintaining high standards for our curriculum and fostering a culture of accountability, we ensure that every student has the opportunity to flourish.
I will focus on fostering a collaborative culture that prioritizes professional respect and recognition for all staff. Practically, this means balancing competitive salaries with stable benefits, improving two-way communication between the board and educators, and ensuring our administration has the resources to support staff effectively in every building.
I will be a vocal advocate for our district’s excellence, from our premier music and special education programs to our innovative CTE programs. By leveraging my professional experience to build diverse partnerships with local industries like Tri-Energy, I will support our students having direct pathways to high-paying careers right here in North Dakota.

By far and away my top priority is the fiscal responsibility to citizens. Communities are stressed with financial burdens already and with state budgets, it makes it more difficult for school districts to operate while staying competitive for teacher hirings and other professionals for our kids.
As part of the school board we are continuously monitoring expenditures, facilities, and taxes. Prioritizing the needs of the students is kept in mind with every expense. Maximizing every state dollar of funding. Using sponsorship opportunities at every turn to help conserve tax payer dollars when facilities or additions are needed.
We do this by ensuring we have the right people in the right positions within our organizations. Mandan has been very fortunate to have great teachers and administrators. Statewide test results since COVID have shown tremendous strides as Mandan ranks near the top in nearly every age category. It's a result of high quality staff doing their best and giving kids one on one attention.
In every aspect from teacher salaries/benefits, unique ideas such as bonusing for hard to fill positions, and building/maintaining cultures suitable for teacher advancement. Adapting to technology, maintaining high quality facilities, and most importantly providing administrative support.
I already am. I'm a product of Mandan Schools from Kindergarten through high school graduation. A proud Brave! A continuous champion for the kids and the taxpayers. Making sure they get a quality education for the future with a sensible fiscal budget.

My priorities are strong academic outcomes, safe and structured learning environments, and supporting the teachers and families who make our schools successful. I want to build on the success our schools are already achieving while ensuring we continue to move forward in a thoughtful and responsible way. Staying focused on core learning areas while preparing our students with real world skills. I will prioritize being a strong liaison between our schools, families and the community.
I believe in responsible, transparent budgeting, and regularly reviewing our spending would help to ensure adequate funding for the needs of our growing school district. Also exploring opportunities beyond our general budget such as grants and working with our communities, local leaders and school PTO's to support long-term needs.
School board members play an important role in making key decisions on leadership, budgeting, hiring and evaluating, as well as allocating and approving teachers and support staff. All of which directly impact and shape the environment where students learn and succeed.
Recruiting and retaining great teachers and staff starts with creating an environment where they feel supported, heard and respected. Including being competitive with compensation and benefits within our budget. Also focusing on day-to-day support—manageable workloads, strong leadership, and access to the resources they need in the classroom. Retention is just as important as recruitment. When teachers feel valued, heard, and supported, they’re more likely to stay.
Being a champion for the school district starts with how I am as a leader. I am always looking for ways to be involved in our community and serving our schools and community would be an absolute honor. I believe in clear communication, accountability and I always take the time to listen. I will always advocate for our students, support our teachers, and ensure our community and families we serve feel informed and involved.

My top priorities as a Mandan school board member are to support students and staff while making mindful, sustainable decisions that keep the district moving forward and not overextending resources.
I would make sure we are being transparent with our budget. We also need to makes sure we are prioritizing our classroom needs, plan for our growing enrollment, and making sure our grants and federal funding are being used in the most efficient way.
I believe, we as school board members, need to support academic outcomes of our students through resource allocation, accountability, monitoring test scores, graduation rates and demographic performance.
In order to recruit teachers and staff, we need to make sure we are competitive with our salary and benefits. We need to make sure we are supporting our staff, listening to their needs and make sure all staff have a manageable workload.
I have been in Mandan since 1999 with my family. I would not live anywhere else. We are in a great community, with a great school system. I will do whatever I can to be a great support for students, staff and parents. I will make sure we are being fiscally responsible with our taxpayers dollars. I would love to be a part of the continuing growth of the Mandan students, teachers and support staff. Being involved with the school board is a privilege that I would be honored to hold.
