I want to improve affordability in the city government, no increases to taxes, and efficiencies in the budget. Promoting the city and growing organically. Allowing local businesses to thrive, and attracting more families to the city. Creating paths to home ownership and community development.
City spending. Budget limits will impact the city spending without proactive steps now. Property tax changes could have an effect as well without planning. Prioritizing needs at the city level, before wants. Proper tax policies that equalize the burden on all residents.
Evaluate the building codes and barriers to new home construction. Look into the rental home market to prevent big business from removing available housing from the market.
I absolutely believe it will have an impact. Unforeseen expenses can occur at anytime, and without planning that could affect city funds. The city should be looking to minimize the budget and concentrate on needs first. By growing the rainy day funds, an unexpected expense can be handled without difficulty.
As a working class, blue collar, punch a clock person, my income is limited to the hours that I work. I have to budget for all the expenses of the year with those funds. I budget out all the costs every pay check, and attempt to set aside a little for unexpected costs. I try to save ahead for repairs and improvements. I do not use credit or loans for regular bills. I spend my money on needs first and wants second. Hopefully, with good choices by the city, my costs do not go up.
