Supporting thoughtful development and sustainable growth is my top priority for the next four years. The 3% property tax increase limit will place real pressure on city departments, requiring careful budgeting, prioritization, and innovation. As a commissioner I will work with departments to explore diverse revenue strategies, improve efficiency, and plan proactively so growth strengthens our infrastructure, public safety, and overall quality of life.
There is a lack of affordable housing across the city. We need to expand housing options for all members of the community while being mindful of the burden that puts on current infrastructure. Working with developers and builders to streamline the development process and ensure there are no roadblocks or unnecessary red tape making it costly or difficult to develop. Ensuring development happens with the community not to the community is crucial to sustainable growth across the city.
If elected, I would focus on the areas where the city can have the greatest impact. Looking for opportunities to streamline the zoning process is key to supporting development. The new land development code is a great start in improving this process. We also need to make sure access to services to help those that are facing homelessness are available and accessible. People experiencing homelessness often lack support and resources to secure housing.

My professional and volunteer experiences have consistently centered on bringing people together to solve problems and build something better. Together, these experiences have shaped my approach to leadership. I value thoughtful listening, practical problem-solving, and building partnerships that move our community forward. I believe those are exactly the qualities needed to serve effectively on the commission and help continue strengthening our city.
My top three priorities are getting a triage center/low-barrier shelter up and running, building more affordable housing for working and middle income as well as starter homes, and creating a 5th Street pedestrian corridor to connect Downtown with the Event Center.
A lack of affordable housing that is making it difficult to attract and retain talented workers, as well as negatively affecting current residents. If elected, I'd work with the Zoning Department alongside homebuilders and developers to create new neighborhoods priced for those households
In addition to my earlier response, I'd work with stakeholder groups to create commonsense ordinances to target bad apple landlords without negatively affecting the rest through burdensome red tape.
The cap means the city will have to be more creative and thoughtful when budgeting for the long term. Like the water department already does for large capital projects, the city will need to slowly build up reserves and use bonds. Otherwise, the focus should be to keep property taxes low to keep people in their homes.
If elected, I'd look for win-win opportunities where we can improve services and save money at the same time, such as championing the low-barrier shelter the city is already working on. I'd also maintain open events with residents to talk with residents, since we all put tax dollars in, we should all decide the priorities the city is focused on.
