Citizens future and how the city functions to assist that.
Cost of infrastructure repairs and funding to do those repairs.
Less apartments and more houses so families are more likely to stay.
No, city works hard not to raise property taxes.
Been in the construction field for over 30 years.
Fiscal responsibility and Transparency
The biggest challenges are housing affordability, high taxes, and overspending. While we have a $40k housing incentive, it isn’t enough; we need single-family homes that young people can actually afford to keep them here. I’ll address this by cutting wasteful spending to manage our 3% tax cap and working to attract good-paying jobs to Valley City. By treating our budget with discipline, we can lower the burden on residents and build a stronger future for the next generation.
The $40,000 incentive for new homes is a start, but it isn't enough. We must make single-family housing truly affordable so young people can stay or move here. I will push for smarter zoning, streamlined utility connections, and local partnerships that reduce the financial hurdles for first-time buyers. Our goal must be a community where the next generation can afford to put down roots. I’ll focus on practical solutions to keep Valley City vibrant and accessible for everyone.
The 3% cap is a win for taxpayers but requires real discipline.
Key impacts include:
• Strict Limits: Revenue from existing property can’t grow over 3% annually.
• Budgeting: We must find efficiencies to fund rising police & fire costs.
• Growth focus: New construction is the "safety valve" to fund projects without tax hikes.
As a veteran & former business owner, I’ll treat our budget like a business to keep Valley City safe and affordable.
As a veteran and former business owner, I bring mission-focused discipline and a "bottom-line" mentality to the budget.
My values are:
• Accountability: I’ll treat your tax dollars like my own, ending "rubber stamp" spending.
• Prioritization: Ensuring first responders and infrastructure come first.
• Efficiency: Managing our 3% cap by recruiting new growth to keep costs low for residents.I have the real-world experience to keep Valley City safe and affordable.

To continue with permanent flood protection.
To grow Valley City in population.
Continue expanding through new developments. Which in turn will create a much more attractive business climate for new businesses like grocery stores or others looking for a smaller market but with a great workforce.
And beautification and walk ability of our community.
Aging infrastructure is a main concern and that is being addressed by planning and using different funding mechanisms to try to keep cost reasonable.
We have created a program in which allows for incentives for building new homes as well as staying on top of the Renaissance zones in order to attract development and therefore increasing used inventory.
We did not have issues attaining the guidelines set forth with the 3% cap. We take budgets very seriously and try to limit wasteful spending.
I have been included in the past 14 years of budgeting and am very proud of the fact that we had very little increases if any for Valley City property tax.

Sustainable growth in our community, affordable housing, bringing new businesses to our community.
The city’s greatest challenge is managing growth. As a commission, we have the opportunity to identify and attract businesses that create jobs, draw new residents, and strengthen our community’s long-term vitality.
As a commission, we must carefully evaluate our options to meet—and thoughtfully expand—the housing needs within Valley City.
New state law may present challenges, and as a commission we’ll need to navigate them carefully. We must budget thoughtfully, anticipate obstacles, and work together to make decisions that best serve the residents and long-term interests of Valley City.
Though I am young, I bring real budgeting experience from serving three years as secretary and one year as director of ND UPC Children’s Ministries, managing donated funds with accountability. I understand many families have limited resources, and that perspective guides my approach to taxes and spending. I am committed to being fiscally responsible, ensuring public funds are used wisely and transparently.
