Control growth - development is outpacing infrastructure; Lower the cost for auto and home insurance; Pass a Homestead Protection Act. Under current SC law, you could lose your home in a simple car accident if you do not have enough insurance. Pass a law capping non-economic damages in personal injury claims. Multimillion-dollar lawsuits are making insurance unaffordable. I Support Women's Rights to access medical care and prescription medicine. I support Public Schools. And I would like to reform Property Taxes. I believe assessments should be frozen for seniors at the purchase price of their home. And expand Medicaid, SNAP, and Childcare benefits. I favor the legalization of marijuana under regulations similar to alcohol.
South Carolina already has stringent laws regarding development. Those laws mandate consideration of factors such as flooding, environment, infrastructure, etc. It appears these laws are not being followed. I would seek enforcement of existing laws.
With the passage of the Federal Big Beautiful Bill, the State of South Carolina is facing a severe cut in funding. This will not hit until January 2027, and the State must be prepared to fund necessary services. I am concerned because I have not observed the current legislature addressing this matter in the current budget. South Carolina will be forced to fund services cut by the Congress.
