My top priorities are wellness, education, affordable living, and local issues. I will work to ensure affordable access to healthcare, protect mental health resources, and support aging in place. I will invest in public schools and higher ed, fund school meals, and support teachers. I will tackle housing and childcare affordability. I will protect family farms, support responsible energy development, and invest in emerging industries like UAS, where Grand Forks is a national leader.
I will advocate for improving quality of care, building the healthcare workforce, identifying state funding to buffer Medicaid reductions, and restoring ACA premium subsidies. The One Big Beautiful Bill cuts $1.42B from ND Medicaid over ten years, threatening 105,000 enrollees, 72% of whom already work. Expired ACA subsidies may double premiums for 34,000 North Dakotans. I will also work to keep programs like Medicaid, CHIP, and SNAP funded. Without action, North Dakotans are at risk.
Many North Dakotans struggle to find and afford a home that fits their needs. I will work across party lines to address localized housing issues and advocate for the Affordable Housing Act to incentivize voucher participation and inject $200M into the ND Housing Incentive Fund. I will also support the ND Interagency Council on Homelessness and push to increase the Homelessness Grant fund, where demand has exceeded funding since 2023.
I do not support using state funds for education savings accounts that direct public money to private K-12 school tuition. The ND Constitution requires the state to maintain public schools open to all children. Public funds should go to public schools. I support fully funding our schools and the ballot initiative to provide free K-12 meals to improve students’ attendance, enhance their academic performance, and support teachers. I also support funding higher ed and career pathways.
I support no-registration voting, absentee voting, and early voting. I believe the requirement that absentee ballots arrive by Election Day, as mandated by a federal executive order, disenfranchises voters and runs counter to North Dakota values. Previously, ND allowed ballots postmarked before Election Day to be counted if they arrived within 13 days. I also believe we must ensure equitable ballot access for all North Dakotans, including tribal communities facing voter ID challenges.
About 32% of ND's budget comes from federal transfers. The federal government should support states as partners, not impose unfunded mandates or withdraw commitments. I believe local control, accountability, and fairness produce better outcomes than top-down mandates. Current imbalances include $1.42B in Medicaid costs and a portion of SNAP costs shifted to ND, federal overreach into election rules, and HUD shifting funds from permanent housing to shelters.

Reduce Property Taxes & Make Homes More Affordable: Lower homeowners' and renters' rates through voter-approved reforms. Fight against institutional investors buying single-family homes so working families can afford to buy again Parents in Charge & Stronger Schools: Empower parents with real school choice. Support merit-based teacher pay, strong core academics and trades, student mental health, and full parental rights Economic Freedom: Reduce burdensome regulations on oil, gas, and agriculture
I will work to make healthcare more affordable by increasing transparency and reducing government barriers that increase costs. North Dakotans deserve to know the true cost of procedures, tests, and visits before receiving care. I support strong healthcare price transparency laws requiring providers and insurers to disclose costs upfront so patients can shop around and compare prices — just like we do for any other service.
I will address North Dakota’s housing needs by making homeownership more attainable for families. I support long-term property tax relief by lowering rates for homeowners and renters, extending caps on business property taxes, and phasing out local property taxes through voter-approved reform. I will stand up to financial investors buying single-family homes — they are “killing the dream” of homeownership — plus targeted tax credits for young families, trades workers, and military.
North Dakota’s Constitution requires the state to establish and maintain a system of free public schools open to all children. This is a clear mandate we fully support. At the same time, parents know their children best and should have the freedom to choose the educational setting that works best for their family — whether public, private, charter, religious, or homeschool. Multiple studies show public schools improve when facing competition from school choice programs like ESAs/vouchers.
North Dakota has one of the best-balanced voting systems in America, ensuring both high access and strong integrity safeguards. It’s a model many conservatives and good-government groups point to positively.
The federal government’s role is strictly limited to the powers enumerated in the U.S. Constitution. The 10th Amendment is clear: all powers not delegated to the federal government are reserved to the states and the people. The federal government should protect national defense, interstate commerce, and foreign affairs — nothing more. There is a serious imbalance today. Federal mandates on energy, education, healthcare, and land use are undermining state sovereignty.

Attract or Grow more good jobs that provide good health insurance. Reduce regulation and mandates. Allocate the $$$ for the North Dakota Rural Health Transformation Program effectively. Keep ND a great place to raise a family so our doctors & nurses stay.

In my District the biggest issue with housing is the cost of ownership. I will work in the legislature to ensure we continue and expand our Property Tax credits to make ownership more affordable. Next step is to work on property tax reduction for retired home owners that have seen taxes balloon while on fixed incomes.
School Choice is important to many people in my district. I generally do not agree with Public Funds for Private XYZ. But on this topic specifically I tell my constituents that we cannot reduce the amount of public funding to our Public Schools. Taking a few students out of a public school doesn't reduce the cost of operation by much. A fixed per pupil voucher could be a big hit to the public school. But an additional optional funding for alternative schooling is something to investigate.
It works well. If it isn't broken we don't need to spend time & effort to change it. I have no issue with the current Primary system, mail in ballot, etc. as it is run in North Dakota.
States Right's are so important and were a critical founding principle of our nation. More of the contentious issues should be decided at the state level and less the federal level. But we need to recognize that in some areas, specifically economic & defense, having rules apply across state lines can be very important to allow industries to grow & not be burdened by 50 different regulatory rules.

Negotiate Drug Prices: Advocate for measures to negotiate prices for prescription drugs, reducing costs for consumers and the healthcare system as a whole.Increase Price Transparency: Mandate price transparency for services and procedures so that patients can make informed choices and providers compete on cost, potentially driving down prices. Collaborate with Local Organizations: Work with non-profits, community organizations, and local governments to identify and address healthcare needs.
Community Engagement and Planning: Involve local communities in the planning process to ensure housing developments meet the specific needs of residents. Also, conduct needs assessments to determine specific housing shortages in different regions of the state. Increase Affordable Housing Supply: Incentivize the construction of affordable housing through tax credits for developers. Provide resources for potential homebuyers and renters to available assistance programs.
The topic of directing public funds to non-public education, such as private or charter schools, is a complex and often contentious issue.
Voting methods in North Dakota include in-person voting on Election Day and early voting, which can enhance participation but also rely on individuals having the necessary ID. The potential barriers posed by ID requirements merit ongoing discussion and consideration.

Overall, while the unique voting landscape in North Dakota has its potential benefits, it also highlights the need for continued attention to equity and access in the electoral process.
The balance of power between the federal government and the states is continually evolving, influenced by legal interpretations, political dynamics, and social contexts. Ongoing debates concerning areas like health care, education, the environment, and civil rights suggest that issues of state versus federal authority will remain pertinent in shaping U.S. governance.
