My top priorities are affordable housing by way of property tax relief, government efficiency and supporting Grand Forks employers - including the University of North Dakota.
I would work closely with the insurance commissioner to understand how exactly the costs between the providers and insurers are negotiated. I support transparency in pricing for providers.
I would continue efforts to get down property tax and also look at ways political subdivisions and the state can address the rising costs of special assessments to homeowners.
I think there can be opportunities where this makes sense, but it must be to support a vital public need. For instance, if there were a private school that provided education for law enforcement or other public service, this is something the state should support.
North Dakota has the easiest and best voter registration system in the United States.
I believe the federal powers are enumerated powers, while the States have the authority to do everything else that is not specifically enumerated to the federal government (i.e. interstate commerce, full faith and credit clause, specific Amendments). The Federal government has overstepped in some regards through its interpretation of the supremacy clause and the idea of preemption.
