Fredericksburg is a home-rule city with a charter and a city council/manager form of government. The five-member legislative and governing body known as the City Council is composed of a mayor and four council members who are elected from the city at large for a two year term.Duties: presides over the meetings of the city council; recognized as the head of city government for all ceremonial purposes; acts as the chief executive officer of the city; ensures that the laws and ordinances of the city are properly carried out; monitors the conduct of each subordinate municipal officer; informs the city council and recommends any measure that relates to improving the finances, police, health, security, cleanliness, comfort, ornament, or good government of the city; charged with emergency powers to preserve the peace and good order of the city. The term of office is two years.
I served as a Fredericksburg city councilmember from 2023-2025. I have a diverse management background; A U.S Navy submarine veteran, I have 35 years in the private sector, where I rose from an individual contributor to divisional vice-president for two separate fortune 500 companies. I have managed large corporate divisions including up to $500M budgets. On council, I lowered property taxes for over 65 homesteaded retirees, while enabling the city to purchase a new city hall at 1/3 the price of new construction. Additionally, I worked with our police foundation to enable first responders with the ability to purchase homes.
Fredericksburg requires a third water well field. Current well fields are meeting our needs, however with the recent commercial and residential growth, a third well field is critical, Additionally, we need to ensuring that all of our city services infrastructure is ready to meet our increasing demands. Our first responders are critical to ensuring our citizens’ safety and wellbeing. With the recent fires and natural disasters in our region, preparedness cannot be compromised. Lastly, I believe in working to preserve Fredericksburg’s cultural and historical foundation, this is essential to maintaining Fredericksburg as the crown jewel of the hill country.
Thoughtful and intentional growth is key to maintaining the quality-of-life balance for our residence while supporting our small business community. I am excited to see that we have a growing community of young families now residing in Fredericksburg. I will work to ensure that our city services can scale to meet the increasing demand for those excellent services that the city of Fredericksburg is known for.
As Mayor Pro Tem and a current City Councilmember, I’ve spent the past four years working on the issues that matter most to Fredericksburg—growth, infrastructure, and fiscal responsibility. Professionally, I bring over 15 years of experience in finance, nonprofit organizations, and public policy, with time at the Texas Capitol and in Washington, D.C. Through my work and regional partnerships across the Hill Country, I’ve built strong relationships that help Fredericksburg navigate complex challenges and secure resources. I bring a collaborative, results-focused approach grounded in listening and doing the next right thing for our community.
Fredericksburg is at a pivotal moment. Growth is bringing opportunity, but also increasing pressure on infrastructure, public safety, and city services. Managing that growth responsibly, while maintaining our financial stability and the character of our community, is one of the most pressing challenges we face. We must also continue investing in police, fire, and EMS to keep our community safe, and ensure our downtown remains vibrant and accessible for both residents and visitors. These issues require steady leadership, thoughtful planning, and a commitment to balancing today’s needs with long-term sustainability.
Residents have shared concerns about growth, traffic, and maintaining Fredericksburg’s quality of life. Many feel that downtown is becoming harder for locals to access and want to see Main Street remain welcoming and functional for everyone. I also hear a strong desire for responsible use of tax dollars and continued investment in public safety. People recognize the importance of a strong local economy and supporting small businesses as well. What I hear most is a call for balanced, common-sense leadership that listens, brings people together, and focuses on practical solutions.
