Promote Buying American 1st; most of the farm bill is actually food stamps. Food Stamps allow users to buy any food, including foreign. That does not help American farmers and ranchers. I think we could add the requirement of American Food to food stamps.
I support cuts to remove fraud waste and abuse. I support cuts to prevent Medicare and Social Security from going to non-US citizens.
The Government is the one, I see with the most waivers of these standards. The Government forces every business to comply and does not do so themselves. If the law is on the books, the Government bodies will be held to the same standard.
We need safe and Secure elections. I am in favor of the Save America Act. I understand it may require pulling paperwork out, if you are required to register after a move or to change parties. My Wife keeps all of ours for our family, she knows where it is. I also want limited or no equipment online. This will prevent hacking and fraud. We need to make sure a foreign power cannot take over our election or the results.
There are numerous temporary workforce programs, including those used by employers in our state. As long as they are enforced and enforced equally I do not know of a legal entry program I would appose. I do not support entering or overstaying your entry into the US by any unlawful means.

The Farm Bill is long overdue and appears to have lost its momentum after the House initially marked it up in early March. Congress has ignored it's duty for three years and farmers deserve an updated bill.

Enforcing anti-trust laws is key to open markets and more competition. For too long the issue has been ignored and continues to hamper the economic strength of farms and ranches.

I believe in investment in biotech and science innovation around agricultural commodities. I would also prioritize restructuring the visa program to ensure ag producers have the workforce they need for current and future demand.
I do not support cutting Medicare or Social Security. America is the wealthiest country on Earth, yet medical debt is the leading cause of personal bankruptcy in the U.S. Studies suggest that medical issues contribute to over 60% of all personal bankruptcy filings.

Social Security significantly reduces poverty in America and can be solvent if we just eliminate the income cap. It is critical to America’s seniors and those in the disability community.

The elimination of Medicare and Social Security would be devastating.

The federal deficit has increased due to tax cuts for the wealthy in the 2025 reconciliation bill and increased spending on foreign wars. That should not mean vulnerable American citizen should pay with their lives.
Clean air and water are fundamental to our health, our economy, and our way of life in South Dakota.

Recent Supreme Court cases reduced protections provided by the Clean Water Act. I’m also concerned about a trio of bills the U.S. House of Representatives is considering that would weaken the Clean Air Act.

I'll advocate for restoring and protecting these standards while working with producers, communities, and local leaders on practical solutions. That includes expanding conservation practices like cover crops, buffer zones, and soil health initiatives that reduce runoff and protect our rivers and drinking water. It also means supporting responsible development.
Securing our elections and protecting voter rights are both essential to maintaining public trust in our democracy. I support systems that are secure, accurate, recountable, accessible, and transparent. That means transparency around election procedures and ensuring the public can observe and have confidence in the process. We should implement strong accountability measures like ballot reconciliation, clear complaint and remediation processes, routine monitoring, and rigorous pre- and post-election audits. When people know the system is fair, transparent, and accountable, confidence in our elections and our democracy follows.
I believe we need comprehensive immigration reform. For too long, the lack of political will to take on this complex issue has held back communities across America. Immigration is a multifaceted issue. It’s essential to the strength of our workforce, our small businesses, and the vitality of rural towns. In our ag economy, farmers, ranchers, and processors need clarity and stability to plan for the future, but so do hospitals, main street businesses, and growing communities across the state. Thoughtful restructuring of visa programs and an improved path to citizenship needs to be addressed.
