I am an innovator and change agent, and a fix-it guy. My 27 years of service in the Air Force, and my subsequent seven years serving as the Director of Global Health Outreach at the Christian Medical & Dental Associations in Bristol, have given me broad experience in working with others in government, faith-based, and civilian sectors, both domestically and internationally. I am very good at identifying problems and their root causes, and working with all parties to develop solutions that go far to satisfying almost all people involved. While not everyone will be satisfied with solutions that developed, most are satisfied that their concerns have been heard and can support the solution, at least partially.
Proactive responsible budget management and responsible growth. Voters are concerned about out-of-control growth and overloading highways and other infrastructure, which will lead to property tax increases. The budget must be carefully scrutinized, especially at the middle administrative levels, since that is where people tend to be hired when funding is available. Reasonable measures of effectiveness must be developed and shared, both to reassure the taxpayers of the county that government is working efficiently and to provide leadership with feedback to correct deficiencies.
