Occupation/Background
Mother/Restaurant Industry/Cosmetologist
As a descendant of Polish immigrants, I watched what hard work and dedication should achieve. My parents raised four children on a single income. Unfortunately, the economic conditions in our district and state have made achieving that same American dream, increasingly more difficult. Lived experience matters when the decisions being made year after year in Indianapolis, affect our daily lives and circumstances. Ensuring Hoosiers have the opportunity to thrive is top priority. With poverty levels higher than the state and national average, this county needs a fighter to break down those barriers and create pathways for a better quality of life for all.
I think the unique challenges NWI faces, is that it is an area that has capability to be a landmark that people love to visit and live in; but overindustrialization and stagnant wages is making it harder to attract and maintain a community that can give back and keep flourishing like it should. I feel workers of all industries and the ranging of environmental habitats and resources that make our region so diverse, are being exploited. I fear the beauty NWI provides, could soon be gone.
A truly independent and non-partisan redistricting commission would ensure that when maps are drawn every decade; nobody's voice and representation gets diluted. I will ensure that all Hoosiers are being fairly represented by being active in the community and responsive to the voices and desires the people in house district 20 bring to my attention.
I personally do not believe that state level data center regulations are strong enough. Municipalities should maintain every ability to listen to their constituents and set ordinances their people feel good about. I would be adamantly opposed to limiting a municipality from creating and enforcing the ordinances their people ask for.
When it comes to the cost of the infrastructure upgrades it would take to power a data center(s), I believe the entity wishing to erect such projects should be fully liable for any and every upgrade it takes to adapt our grid to such high demands. I do not believe they should receive an exemption on the sales tax of the equipment they wish to install, either.
I plan to keep the district and constituents informed of what legislation is introduced, what it means in simple terms, and give them the opportunity via whichever communication line they choose; to voice their opinions directly and timely so I can vote according to their wishes.

Gerrymandering our rights to a fair election, I would continue to vote no
Expansion of Data Centers without environmental safeguards in place, making sure we are looking at aspects including water, electricity, and health and well-being of our community
I will work for all Hoosiers whether they voted for me or not.
I do not believe decisions should be made behind closed doors and due to a super majority. I believe our community deserves to be heard and have valid concerns that maybe ignored. If the data center is able to provide the City with a minimum of $30 million dollars per year, they can afford to follow appropriate and fair ordinances.
I believe in meeting people where they are and holding town halls to address issues, I will be available through email and phone. I believe people need to understand the "why" behind decisions.
