1. NiSource has donated to Republican and Democratic candidates heavily over the years, and we have gotten rate increases and a lockout to show for it. I want a full investigation and audit into why we allow this legal monopoly to have such a control on our region. 2. I will emphatically and unequivocally vote NO on any new toll road implementation in Indiana. Hoosiers already pay enough. 3. Term limits, I believe, are so important for us to be able to keep our elected officials in check. I have signed the term limits pledge, it is on my Facebook account as well as my website.

I have several other objectives that can be found on travisgearhart.com.
I believe that I am the best candidate for this position as I have experience as an elected official (Hebron Town Council), as a former political affiliate of the Republican party (South County Republican Chair, D1 YR Vice Chair, among several others), but have also not sat in office for years and years collecting a paycheck off of the taxpayer dole. I believe that my experience is unique as a Region native and as someone who has built his life in the private sector while serving publicly; not solely sitting in public office as so many of these politicians do.
I think the most important thing for us, as elected officials, is to turn towards the Constitution of the United States as well as the State Constitution and ensure that those most basic needs stated within are being met. Now, with that being said, I believe that we can find areas within state government that can be cut or pared back so that our voters do not have to suffer the consequences. That will likely look like less tax breaks going towards big businesses. Lastly, legalizing cannabis at the state level will bring in billions of extra tax revenue that will help with that strain, as well.
I would engage with constituents the same way that I engage with them now: I am an open book with an open door. I answer emailed questions, Facebook messages, YouTube comments, you name it. Communication with the Hoosier taxpayer is literally the floor of what we should expect from our elected officials. I will be available through any and all social media platforms, emails, phone number, heck carrier pigeon if you've got it.
I think that the state of Indiana right now is in the same flux as much of the rest of the country. Affordability for the Hoosier taxpayer is a very real problem. While big business in Indiana is making record profits and paying CEO's millions of dollars in bonuses(looking at you NiSource), they are also locking out blue collar workers. While the price of goods and services rise due to tariffs, inflation, and war, we are told to tighten our belts while we send more money overseas and give corporate tax breaks. Easing the burden on the average Hoosier is priority one, but that isn't a single issue; there is no smoking gun. Repealing right to work, eliminating the state income tax, and not burdening our blue collars is a start.
I think that this goes hand in hand with my last answer. We have to focus on taking care of our Region tax payers and not on down state, Indy politics. How much money and time was wasted on redistricting? How FAST did the Hammond Bears taxing authority get approved and passed, while every other bill affecting Hoosiers sits in limbo. Again, there is no smoking gun here. There is no single bill that will solve our problems. What is NEEDED is leadership that is not beholden to big money on EITHER side of the aisle. I hope to provide that, and I hope to provide Hoosiers with a solid voice.

The District 4 constituents want a leader that will fight for regular people and stand up to power, I have been fighting for workers as Union Representative, for over a decade. I have fought my country overseas, and now I want to bring that fight down state!
