Named 2nd most effective lawmaker in Harrisburg
Housing: Jared is leading a group of bipartisan lawmakers in the State House to create a pro-housing agenda for Pennsylvania that addresses local barriers to development, encourages bureaucratic reform, and sets overarching housing policy for the state. Housing is too expensive. Young and old are being priced out of the market.
Public Corruption: Jared is the leading voice in fearlessly calling out the culture of corruption in Pennsylvania, regardless of political party. Jared continues to be one of the only elected officials in Harrisburg publicly advocating for truly transparent, ethical, and good government.
Abortion Rights: Jared has maintained a lifetime 100% voting scorecard from Planned Parenthood Pennsylvania Advocates.
The right to vote is the fundamental right from which all other rights flow. In the State House, Jared is working tirelessly to ensure that all Pennsylvanians can exercise their Constitutional right to the ballot box in free and fair elections, with the ability to safely and reliably vote by mail. Jared has authored Open Primaries legislation that would allow unaffiliated voters to participate in either the Democratic or Republican primary.
The budget impasse lasted more than 100 days, and it hurt organizations in Pennsylvania including our schools and nonprofits. In particular, it is estimated that over $5.3 billion in education funding and more than $560 million of funding for nonprofits was impacted due to the budget impasse. As a result, these organizations were placed in dire financial situations and were forced to take necessary actions in order to remain open, which included taking out loans with high interest rates and fees. To address this, Jared is drafting legislation that will back fill any interest accrued by entities that receive state funding which were forced to take out loans during the recent budget impasse.
Jared believes that data centers present both opportunities for economic development and potential negative consequences for environmental degradation and issues concerning quality of life. Future action by the legislature will need to balance both in a thoughtful and deliberate way.
