Description of office: The General Assembly is the legislative branch of government in Pennsylvania. It is composed of two houses: the Senate is the upper house, and the House of Representatives is the lower house. A majority vote in both houses is necessary to pass a law. The PA House of Representatives consists of 203 members representing one district each, with an equal number of constituents. Representatives must be at least 21 years old, have been a citizen and a resident of the state four years and a resident of their respective districts one year before their election, and shall reside in their respective districts during their terms of service. The House develops budget packages, makes taxation decisions, allocates spending, and passes laws (including redistricting in collaboration with the Senate). The House also has the exclusive authority to impeach public officials. Representatives also serve on various policy committees that may propose legislation.Term: 2 yearsSalary: $113,591Vote for ONE.Note: On Democratic and Republican primary ballots, voters will also choose members of the State and County Committees. State Lead for PA: "Progressive Victory" (Non-Profit Political Organization) 2022-2025
Lack of Affordable Healthcare: Support the "PA Guaranteed Healthcare Act" to create a single-payer system for the entire state of PA. Would eliminate premiums, copays, and deductibles. This would guarantee every Pennsylvanian access to the medical, dental, vision, and prescription drugs they deserve.
Lack of Affordable Housing: Support HB-914, which would impose limits on rent increases Landlords can impose on Tenants. Lack of Affordable Opportunity to raise a Family: Support legislation like HB-1534, Allowing families who participate in Dependent Care FSA's to have access to the State Credit. Support expanding eligibility for Universal Pre-K. Increase per-child funding/staffing.
Support increase of minimum wage to at least $15.00/hour.
I believe our elections are already incredibly secure:
All states already audit elections.
30 lawsuits filed in 2024 alleging fraud resulted in 0 cases being found to change any outcome of said elections. ("Stanford-MIT," 1/25)
99.9% of 2024 votes have a paper record. ("Verified Voting," 11/24)
Georgia's 2024 hand count of 5 million ballots found an error margin of 0.0002%.
Even according to an analysis from the Heritage Foundation, the 2022-2024 election fraud rate was found to be 0.00004%.
I believe it is absolutely unnaceptable that we have failed to pass our State Budget in 8 out of the last 10 years. This cripples essential services that benefit working-class Pennsylvanians across the state.
I would support:
A stoppage of lawmaker's pay during an impasse, to ensure they can't hide from the horrible impact their lack of action is causing.
Proposals to allow essential state services (schools, social programs) to continue to recieve money during an impasse.
Switching to a 2-year budget cycle to create a bit more stability and breathing room for these services that are so vital to the average Pennsylvanian.
Yes, I believe it is the state legislature's responsibility to protect Pennsylvanians from the very real harms that these AI data centers pose.
They create dramatic rises in household costs, especially electricity. They put a massive strain on local resources. (especially water sources)
A woman living 400 yards from a massive Meta data center found "sediment in her drinking water." She was forced to "fill up water for storage" as well as "fill up buckets to flush the toilets." ("More Perfect Union," 3/25)
The alleged "local economic boom and job increase" is a fallacy, as well. Most data centers operate largely autonomously. Any available roles usually involve very niche skills that require bringing in workers from outside areas.
