Everyone is feeling the pain of increased costs, including myself. From fuel prices, food, healthcare, as well as having seen the costs to operate a business rise, too. I've had to put items back on the shelf in order to maintain my budget over the past few years as well. In short, I am you. Should the voters send me to DC, I'd bring a little common sense with me. To say it simply, lets pass some budgets, like the current TSA budget, & get things moving again. Aside from that, I'd push to get an annual Federal budget balanced. In business you can't spend more than you take in for long or you will be out of business. I'd also like to reform regulations driving the defense spending budget & bring that down. We need common sense spending now.
At the end of the day, it is to support the American people's best interests either if they are or aren't being fulfilled. From having hearings, to budgetary control, or subpoena individuals/agencies to taking legislative action, this is the Congress responsibility. These methods are the checks and balance tools that separate the branches. These tools are used to prevent abuse on the American people and make the government more efficient.
Congress has several key roles for foreign policy, trade policy would be a key concern under my campaign. As a manager of a small family owned manufacturing business, I'd push to give America's manufacturing base every advantage possible. For too many years America has been taken advantage of until this current administration said "No more." The tariff policies may have been given a bad light, but as a manufacturer who has had a job move back from China I can say they are meeting their objective. As for other enumerated powers such as spending, senate confirmations, or even declaration of war, my goal would be to once again support the American people's best interests.
As a Congress man, using the power of the purse to stop those committing health care fraud that has become apparent in MN/CA and everywhere else, and instead put that money in the American people's hands to let them take care of their health care needs while fostering an environment that gives them affordable options. With the expiration of the enhanced premium coverages under the ACA/Obamacare, many Americans, including myself, have seen dramatic increases to their healthcare costs. This was a time bomb which I feel was used to push for a single payer option, which I oppose. As your Congress man it would be my goal to find and create a more efficient option.
