The most important job of the State Central Committee is to help grow and build party strength for local, state, and federal elections. The committee also sets party rules, maintains voter outreach infrastructure, and ensures fair, transparent endorsement and primary processes. These functions matter because they build a pipeline of competitive candidates, unify messaging, and strengthen grassroots engagement. A strong State Central Committee is key to winning elections and advancing Democratic policy priorities across Ohio.
My experience as a leader within the party and working with candidates across the state means that I know what infrastructure is necessary to win elections. It starts by recruiting and supporting candidates at every level to build our bench of elected officials in all counties and communities. It also requires a coordinated campaign strategy that unifies our message and allows candidates to be efficient with their limited resources. We must also prioritize building strong coalitions that represent the diversity and values of our party. Finally, raising the funds necessary to support these operations should be a shared approach by all State Central Committee members in support of the Party Chair.
Ensuring that eligible Ohioans are informed about how, when, and where to vote is essential to a strong and representative democracy. This work relies on building partnerships and coalitions with key community stakeholders and caucuses. These partners play a critical role in helping reach voters in their communities and encouraging civic participation. Promoting voter participation also requires dedicated resources within the party to support outreach and education efforts. Investing in targeted outreach strategies can help engage voters who traditionally have lower participation rates, as well as eligible residents who are not yet registered to vote. The party should support local efforts that ensure more Ohioans have the opportunity to make their voices heard at the ballot box.
