The State Central Committee sets the party's direction. One of the most important jobs of the central committee is building the tools and infrastructure our candidates need. This includes voter data to digital resources, so they can run competitive campaigns across the state, especially in rural areas. The SCC also shapes our party platform and creates a clear message that addresses the real issues ohioans face. The committee’s main job is to put these values into practice by recruiting strong candidates and organizing at the grassroots level, helping our party win elections and make a difference.
If elected, I will introduce a resolution to create a platform focused on Ohio and its issues. Right now ODP say their platform is the DNC platform. The problem is that the DNC brand is very unpopular in Ohio. We need a platform the focuses on Ohio and our issues. I will also introduce a resolution requiring party leaders to visit every county to listen to the people. We also need to partner and reconnect with the Unions. ODP also needs to heavily invest in their caucuses like Rural and Ohio Young Dems to help reach out to ohioans. The Democratic Party is losing more local union chapters and working families every year. We went from winning elections to having an 8-point Republican margin in 2016-2020, and now republicans have an 11-point margin in 2024, and that needs to change.
ODP should prioritize significant investment in county parties to strengthen GOTV. Additionally, ODP should support caucuses and organizations such as Rural and Ohio Young Democrats to enhance their engagement with Ohioans. County parties know their communities better than Columbus does, so it is essential to provide them with the resources they need to succeed.
