Being a lifelong resident of La Porte and a small business owner. I may not be as polished as my opponent or know all the answers but I will always listen to what the residents want and have real honest conversations with them. If I don't know I won't pretend too and I will find out! I am not a politician and I think that is someone who fits best to represent EVERYONE.
Rising cost of living is nationwide and I would strive to keep La Portes cost of living low. I would prioritize responsible budgeting and limit unnecessary spending. I would ensure taxpayer dollars are used efficiently.
I would prioritize investing in projects that directly improve quality of life for our residents. I would focus on expanding green space and upgrading playground equipment, improving lighting and safety and enhancing walking trails. I would not support using funds whether grants or taxpayer dollars on projects that don't clearly benefit residents in their everyday lives. Every dollar should be used with PURPOSE transparency and long term value in mind. I would also seek community input before making decisions ensuring investments reflect what residents actually want and need.
I want residents to feel comfortable reaching out, asking questions, and being part of the conversation. Not just during elections. I would work to make city decisions more accessible and easier to understand so people know how and why choices are being made.
I also hope to be a steady thoughtful voice on council, someone who listens first, considers all sides and makes decisions based on what is best for the community as a whole.
My full time job is a Leader as a Regional Sales Director for a multi million US based manufacturing company with a sales team across Western US and Mexico - I have been on Council for 6 years reviewing and deciding budgets for past 6 years. Attended several workshops at TML conferences. Attended “Newly Elected Official “ training . I am currently the president of our HOA for past 10 years and highly active in the community I was born and raised in
LaPorte faces a couple of challenges regarding truck traffic and by adding a 3rd terminal to the channel will only add to this issue - we are making sure the city works closely with the county to ensure flyover s are complete to access 225 in order to help mitigate this issue
Also, Fairmont and 225 are in dire need of repair and again we are making sure our city staff is keeping LP s interest at the top of the list with Adrian Garcia s office
I would split it into two parts- one to rebuild the Sylvan pier and 2nd to aid with the Main Street “street project” that will continue revitalizing the downtown district with new businesses
We have several project I would like to be completed during my next term,:
1 new event center at the golf course to help overflow events and create La Porte’sonky event center
2- completion of the main street street project
3- completion of the new $37 million lift station in lomax- out largest $ project ever
4-completion of the new pro shop at the Bay Forest golf course
5-16 street upgrade to the intersection at Spencer to help with 18 wheeler flow on truck route
