My 45 years of dealing with the public, people, gives me the training, experience, and background to represent the interests of all of Friendswood.
In business I worked with all walks of life during my career. From working folks, like me, in the construction and housing business to medical professionals.
I was trained to ask questions, listen to answers, and help my customers get what they want.
Life taught me that all are my customers - Including family, friends, and my Friendswood neighbors.
My friends & neighbors say that our 2 biggest concerns in Friendswood are:
1 Flood mitigation: -
a. Local & small footprint - The first step in flood mitigation is holding developers accountable for the impact of their development on the surrounding properties. Create and enforce the policies.
Prior to construction developers must have drainage plans approved by all of the governing bodies. Not only long term drainage plans, but also during the construction process.
b. Big picture solutions - We must work with our partners to find real solutions through a variety of sources and choose projects that have real impact. GCCDD should be our closest partner.
2 Keep our Friendswood small town oasis-
o Continue large lot SF & limit multi-family residential development.
o Encourage Live Here/Work Here commercial growth that adds to our city tax base. (Like Castle Bioscience on 528)
o Focus on the Hometown that we are vs Destination City some want us to become.
If the City were to receive a $5 million windfall the first thing I would look into is where we could utilize this money to reduce the long term property tax burden on taxpayers’ homestead property tax bill - Actually lower the amount of the check people write to pay their city taxes.
That would serve the greatest number of Friendswood citizens. Homeowners.
I am for keeping government as small as possible without sacrificing including public safety or public services.
Our current city government has a track record of spending every available tax dollar that they get their hands on. Including past, present, and future tax dollars.
We need to change that - Just government can collect or borrow tax dollars, doesn’t mean they should.
My goals as a council member include –
1. Lower homestead property taxes by increasing wanted commercial development. The right commercial development will bring property tax revenues and sales tax dollars to the City coffers. (without paying developers)
2. Repair existing sidewalks so they are safe and usable. Add sidewalks where needed for safety – primarily for the school kids.
3. Put a cap on the Downtown District’s 1/8 cent sales tax revenue. Let’s see what the finished product looks like, how much it is going to cost, and what is the timeframe for completion.
Quit adding items, scale it down to what is necessary and get it done. Then we can vote to redirect that growing revenue stream to other needs. Public safety (sidewalks) would be a great use of that cash.
4. Most importantly my goal is to keep Friendswood the small town we all love.

My family moved to Friendswood in 1971, I graduated from FHS and I raised my family here.
I’m an experienced business leader. I retired from Occidental Petroleum as a Senior Vice President, leading a U.S. division that required developing and managing a budget larger than the City of Friendswood’s budget.
I served on the Planning & Zoning Commission and I’m now in my first term on City Council. I am an independent voice and remain committed to giving back to the community I proudly call home.
Managing the impacts of regional growth and maintaining our exceptional public safety are two of our biggest challenges.
Rapid growth in surrounding communities places increasing pressure on our roads, drainage, and services. City leadership must stay focused on using taxpayer dollars wisely through partnerships and cooperation, not political shortcuts. We can keep taxes low while addressing these challenges through thoughtful, long-term planning, strong partnerships, and disciplined budgeting that protects the quality of life our residents value.
People choose Friendswood for our exemplary schools and safe neighborhoods. Quality education is a key driver of our local economy, and supporting our first responders with the training and equipment they need must remain a top priority.
I would prioritize infrastructure and public safety while leveraging the grant to maximize its impact. By partnering with local, county, state, and federal agencies, we can multiply the grant funds to accomplish even larger road and drainage projects that directly benefit residents, while also addressing any unfunded public safety equipment needs.
I would also work with city staff to fund high-priority items that were not included in the budget and deferred maintenance. Investing in maintenance today helps prevent significantly higher costs in the future.
I will continue working to support strong schools, thoughtfully manage growth, and preserve the character of Friendswood that we all value.
This means encouraging responsible development while maintaining our strong sense of community and small-town feel, advancing drainage and infrastructure improvements, and being a careful steward of taxpayer dollars. I will remain focused on serving our residents, not special interests, while working collaboratively with our city staff to move our community forward.
