I have lived in Brookline since 2011. I am a wife & mother of two children at the Lawrence School. I am also a transplant surgeon at BIDMC. I obtained my MD from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. I completed my general surgery training at BIDMC & then my transplant surgery fellowship at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. I earned my MPH at the Harvard Chan School of Public Health. I serve on multiple national committees related to surgical education.
Sustainably maintaining town services, including education & public safety, while looking to improve the town’s tax base are key issues facing Brookline in the next few years. Increasing housing across all income levels while maintaining the charm that makes us all want to live here will require thoughtful consideration of multiple perspectives & coalition-building.
Brookline Resident since 2008; TMM for 13 years. Phi Beta Kappa honors graduate University of Wisconsin; MA Cornell University. Fulbright Scholar. Corporate communications executive at Fortune 500 corporations. Served on board of Planned Parenthood League of MA, chaired Eleanor Roosevelt Val-Kill Partnership. Worked to get government funds to restore Riverway Park and Carlton Street footbridge. Served on Hillary Clinton and Evelyn Murphy finance committees
Responsible housing development while preserving neighborhood character; school budget overruns leading to Prop. 2.5 tax increases. We need to listen to our constituents and not just follow our own political leanings.
A proud immigrant, I am a parent of 3 young adults who attended Lawrence and BHS, and several alternative schools. I founded the Lawrence Food Fest, a community building event around food literacy and sustainability. I served on the PSB Wellness Committee, leading the overhaul of the district's school wellness policy from 2012-2016 to prioritize nutrition, food literacy, and student mental health. I am in my 14th year serving Precinct 1 in Town Meeting. I have spent my working life as a human rights, government, and legal aid lawyer enforcing housing, disability & education rights. I actively support sustainability work, the fight to preserve our natural world, and accessible cycling, pedestrian, and public transit infrastructure.
I teach at the Youth Law and Policy Lab of Harvard Law School, where I founded and manage the Trauma and Learning Policy Initiative Helpline for families of MA youth and lead the Family Voice Project. I prioritize amplifying perspectives not yet in the mix, and on pushing our schools to do more introspective work on shifting the culture back to one hospitable to deep engagement with families and support for the full range of student needs. I support development of mixed use and mixed income housing, flexible zoning to allow for more density and aging in place in existing housing stock, and a push to increase our commercial tax base. I consider Brookline a sanctuary town and will fight to keep it that way.

I have served our community in a range of roles, including the Select Board, Advisory Committee, Town Meeting, Audit Committee, Economic Development Advisory Board, and as Chair of the Block Grant Committee. These experiences have given me a deep understanding of how our Town operates and where we need to focus to ensure long-term fiscal stability and effective governance.
My wife Amy and I have lived in Brookline for 15 years, and our two children attend the Brookline Public Schools. Like many families, we are deeply invested in the strength of our schools, the quality of Town services, and preserving what makes Brookline such a special place to live.
The issues I hear most from constituents are rising taxes, housing affordability, fiscal stability, and maintaining strong schools and core Town services. Residents want thoughtful, predictable planning, not reactive decisions. I support zoning reform and commercial development consistent with the Comprehensive Plan and infrastructure capacity. On fiscal issues, I believe in clear, honest communication about our structural deficit and the trade-offs we face. I value being accessible, listening early, and showing how community input shapes my decisions. Building trust requires not just hearing concerns, but closing the loop with action and accountability.
