Porter County Recorder

The United States Constitution provides every individual the freedom and right to own property in their own name. That freedom is protected by the County Recorder as it is our responsibility to maintain permanent public records of legal instruments involving real estate, deeds, mortgages, liens, leases, plats, military discharges, personal bonds, and several others.

Served on Board of Directors – Association of Indiana Counties (2016-2017.) Employed by Porter County Sheriff and E911 as System Data-Network Administrator (1995-2010.) Employed by the Porter County Sheriff – civilian employee (1983-1995.)
1) I will continue finding methods to improve the level of quality public service that we have offer to the public. This includes my ability to be a solution provider for public needs while maintaining a pulse on emerging technologies and service advancements.

2) I will create a local chapter organization of like-minded government, business, real estate and legal colleagues that will allow us to collaborate, devise solution strategies and possibly even create legislation if necessary.

3) I will continue working on Deed / Property fraud notification and prevention initiatives, both locally and at the State legislative level.
For over 30 years I have worked in the records management and information technology fields. For the past 15 years I have enjoyed working in the County Recorder’s office. My career began as a Computer Systems Administrator for the Porter County Sheriff and 911 Center in 1995.

I served as the elected County Recorder from 2011 to 2018. Since 2019 to present I have served as the appointed Chief Deputy to the Recorder.

I currently serve on the Indiana Recorders Association Legislative and Technology Committees.

I have held several computer and records management certifications in the past and I continue to stay on top of both industries to maintain my awareness of upcoming trends.
I believe that our service quality stands second to none, yet I always seek new ways of improving our operations and service. I despise the term "that's how we've always done it" and fortunately it doesn't apply to our office. We have an excellent staff that is eager to serve the public and learn new ways to improve that service.

We already have procedures in place to check and double-check record accuracy as it applies to our work toward the office records.

I don't foresee any budget reductions in Porter County. I believe that our County Council has been very responsible with the General Fund. Our office also has a fee-generated fund that assists us with necessary expenditures, which is governed by Indiana Code.
When I was elected as Recorder in 2011, one of the first things I did was create an office website, since none existed. Shortly after I created an office Facebook page to assist us with public notifications, along with forwarding public service announcements to the media, printed and radio.

During my time in office and since I've been Chief Deputy I also look forward to engaging with local organizations, offering presentations about the services that we offer. They include real estate organizations, the legal bar, veterans and senior organizations, the Rotary Clubs and other non-profits, to mention a few.

In the future, I would engage other forms of social media to open up more avenues of communication to the public.
In 2016 and 2017 I had the pleasure of serving as President of the Indiana Recorders Association. In the spring of 2017, I was honored with the Outstanding Service Award by the Indiana Recorders Association and later that year was recognized as the Outstanding County Recorder by the Association of Indiana Counties.

Why do I want to be County Recorder? To continue serving as a solution provider, safeguarding vital records, and helping to protect the public from scams and other deceitful practices.

I have served the public my entire career. I offer proven leadership, professional experience, and the highest level of public service possible. I ask for your support and vote in the 2026 election!

Candidate Bio Information Nuss Bamesberger has lived in Porter County for over 20 years and has devoted much of that time to advocating for children with disabilities. She has been an active volunteer in the community and values developing new programming as well as fixing bureaucratic problems. Her platform is anti-corruption, accountability, ethics and transparency.
The three priorities I'd like to address are: 1. Fixing the known errors on property documents in the Recorder's office 2. Ensuring that we are up-to-date on frauds and scams and have an efficient way to alert the people of Porter County so they can keep their property safe. 3. Establishing a group of diverse citizens to help identify and address issues regarding the Recorder's office, our policies and practices and a clear path to increasing citizen confidence in the Recorder's office.
I am a known problem-solver and I care about giving taxpayers good value for their money when it comes to governmental services. I like working with the public and understand the importance of having a competent government that works for the people.
I would like to have a dedicated email address for issues and concerns with regards to all aspects of the Recorder's Office, so that we can document and track our handling and solving of problems as they arise. I would work with the committee that will be established to review any budget reductions to see where we could cut costs and still provide home and property owners the services they need.
