Township BoardThe trustee is assisted by a three-member Township Board whose members are also elected to four year terms. Duties of the board include adopting the annual budget, serving as a board of finance and approving township contracts. In January of each year, the trustee presents to the board an annual report showing the receipts, expenditures, investments and debts of the township. The approved report is then published in local papers for public inspection.A township trustee is an elected official in the local government of the state of Indiana. A township trustee administers a township, which in Indiana is the primary political subdivision of a county, and in common with most other state officials serves a term of four years.DutiesState law requires the township trustee to perform the following duties:[1]Keeping a written record of official proceedings.Managing all township property interests.Keeping township records open for public inspection.Attending all meetings of the township legislative body.Receiving and paying out township funds.Examining and settling all accounts and demands chargeable against the township.Administering township assistance under IC 12-20 and IC 12-30-4.Performing the duties of Fence Viewer under IC 32–26.Providing and maintaining cemeteries under IC 23–14.Providing fire protection under IC 36–8, except in a township that is located in a county having a consolidated city that has consolidated the township's fire department under IC 36-3-1-6.1.Filing an annual personnel report under IC 5-11-13.Providing and maintain township parks and community centers under IC 36–10.Destroying detrimental plants, noxious weeds, and rank vegetation under IC 15-16-8.Providing insulin to the poor under IC 12-20-16.Performing other duties prescribed by statute.

I'm running again because I care deeply about this community and want to keep doing my part to serve it well. My strength is careful fiscal management; I make sure every dollar is accounted for. I spent 37 years as a Certified Escrow Officer and still hold the office as a Notary Public for the last 40 years, where trust, accuracy, and accountability were every part of the job. For the past three years, I've been farming alongside my husband of 32 years, and on the farm I manage all the books for our operation and cattle. That's taught me to be practical, resourceful, and mindful of every expense-because on a farm, there's no room for waste. I can be a bit detailed focused, but I'm working on balancing that with a broader view.
The board has four major duties. First and foremost; being fiscally responsible for funds received from taxes paid by/to our township community and overseeing what's paid out and making sure every month those numbers balance. We negotiate contracts with our Volunteer FD, as well as taking care of our two cemeteries and our community square and lastly Township Assistance. I'd accomplish these duties, by faithfully attending the board meetings, verifying records of all transactions and bank statements, maintaining close relations with the Volunteer Fire Department, maintaining responsible people to mow and care for the square and cemeteries as well as letting our community know we have assistance available to them.
With being on the Board for the last four years, our Trustee has disclosed each time, before she disburses, to discuss the situation discreetly and we vote for it. We've yet to deny anyone in our Township that qualified. The records would be the Trustee's ledger, bank statements and the Meeting Minutes in which I have held the title of Secretary for the last four years. Folks deserve to know their dollars are being managed responsibly and used the way they were promised.
With being a small community, our Trustee already reaches out to a much larger community Trustee who is a great leader in Township Assistance. She has many contacts and agencies that she works with in the area to guide us to many different facilities and agencies that offer help. Many are homeless shelters, food banks, local churches and many other agencies who directly help people in need. To enhance an already efficient assistance program, we should constantly stay informed of local community help programs and fundraisers/food drives through schools, businesses or private citizens and share that with our community via our live broadcasts of our meetings.
