Before moving to Princeton almost 2 years ago I lived in Frisco and watched it balloon from 80k to 200k+ people. You can see a lot rooftops, cement and traffic. This is not what I and many Princeton residents want. Nature is lost to rooftops, nature walks take place on cement in the Texas sun. Princeton is a small town with rich history and it should be front and center. The build out has not been thought out. Infrastructure not in place before building on it causing major traffic issues during peak hours. Drainage issues on land causing foundation issues for homeowners, not enough ingress/egress for subdivisions. We don't need to build because people want to move here. We must be fiscally responsible in growth and for residents.
SH 380 traffic will, in part, be addressed but is a few years from completion. A new rec center has been approved, a new shopping area with a big box, grocery store, coffee etc., and a medical center. We need small businesses, start planning to refresh Princeton and capture its history. This area is great for boutiques, lake activities (work with Corp of Civil Engineers). Revitalize the downtown area and grow responsibly and have a clear and attainable vision of the end game.
Collin County Transit is the main public transit option. It is administered by DART and covers residents of Princeton and nearby participating cities including, McKinney, Celina, Lowry Crossing, Melissa and Prosper. Trips are shared rides. Public transportation needs addressing by the city.
The roads are old in many cases and bumpy. This issue must and may have already been reviewed by city council. It is a major concern for most every one I spoke with while block walking. Some new/newer roads it appears have been damaged by water from under the road in subdivisions and roadways. With any issue big or small you need a round table to discuss the issue and a plan moving forward. I believe the city had roadways inspected and evaluated not long ago.
I've heard both sides...Princeton is affordable and Princeton is not affordable. I see a range of home prices, sizes and locations. I don't think a city has to appeal to everyone but what the city offers must be quality on the low end or higher end.
Currently, I don't have a plan but once I am on board I will have the opportunity to delve in to the budgets and other areas of concern.
Preserve nature areas; revitalize Princeton and its history, bring in businesses for employment opportunities, family entertainment, outdoor movies, revitalize the downtown area as a tourist destination and include lake activities if possible.
Unknown but I will do my best to get on board and up to speed to be useful to council.
The drainage issues in some subdivisions have been brought before council. I don't know the outcome but it must be addressed.
