Office Sought Idaho Senate District 6
When I am elected to the Idaho State Senate, my first priority will be to restore confidence and credibility in how our state is governed. Too many Idahoans are frustrated with the legislature’s fiscal mismanagement, its overreach of authority, and the intrusion of individual legislators’ personal religious beliefs into state law—especially when it results in the erosion of individual rights, including women’s reproductive rights. Rebuilding trust begins with a commitment to pass laws that genuinely improve people’s lives. That includes strengthening Idaho’s public education system, ensuring access to adequate healthcare and reproductive rights, and supporting mental health and substance abuse services.
With over 30 years of public service, 40 years as a youth coach, and a lifetime of volunteer work, I am well prepared to take on the responsibility of helping all Idahoans live in the best state in the nation. My 24 years as a federal law‑enforcement officer provided extensive training in helping people succeed and navigating complex processes with fairness and accountability. My decades of coaching taught me how to lead, motivate, and work effectively with individuals and teams. And through my many years of volunteer service which has provided me with a unique and well‑rounded skill set that I believe will serve Idaho well in the state legislature.
The most significant challenge facing the state is the supermajority control and the outside influence that continues to push unwanted and unnecessary views, opinions, and ultimately harmful legislation onto the people of Idaho. Shifting the balance of power is essential to restoring trust and ensuring that our laws reflect the needs and values of Idahoans—not the agendas of outside groups. By winning the Idaho State Senate seat in District 6, we can begin moving our state back toward common‑sense legislation grounded in diplomacy, practical problem‑solving, and a genuine commitment to what is best for Idaho and its people.
My background is different from that of most state legislators, and my years in law enforcement—particularly in probation and parole—have given me a deep understanding of and compassion for the people of Idaho. I have seen firsthand that many of our neighbors, friends, and family struggle with real challenges, whether it’s substance abuse, mental health needs, transportation, finances, healthcare, or childcare. Every one of us has been touched by someone in need, and many of us have needed help ourselves. We can no longer turn our backs on those who are struggling, as our current legislature too often has. As your State Senator, my responsibility will be to improve people’s lives, not diminish them.
Campaign Statement As a member of the Idaho House for the last 5 ½ years, I have championed policy to strengthen Idaho’s agriculture, business climate, education, and stood as a voice for our most vulnerable citizens. Based on my 47 years working in the legal field, my family’s history of farming, ranching, and running small businesses, my 15 years of teaching experience at LCSC, together with my experience as a Legislator, I am uniquely qualified to represent you in the Senate. I am known for my ability to communicate effectively, my tenacity and commitment to getting things done, and for my collaboration and work across the aisle. With your help and vote on May 19, together we will continue our efforts on behalf of Dist. 6.

I will continue to be a champion for education and for families to find the right option. In addition, I will continue to listen and be a true voice for the people of Dist. 6. Water, infrastructure, and transportation, should remain priorities for our state and for our District. Idaho has a serious shortage of large vets. I have worked hard to get a better program established for our "Large Vet. Students" in our state. The next step is to find funding. I will continue to work on this and find a solution. This year we worked to make responsible budget decisions; however, some cuts were made too deeply. We need to revisit some of these deep cuts to protect our most vulnerable citizens.
My 5 1/2 yrs in the Idaho House of Representatives, 47 years of work experience in the legal field, my 15+ years of teaching experience, my experience running small businesses, including a real estate development business, my husband's law practice, and my hands-on involvement in my family's cattle operation. I bring a unique set of skills to this position.
The ed. funding formula is seriously lacking transparency. I will work with the Superintendent to find solutions. The fed. govt., has mandated that public schools enroll all students, including our special needs kids. Our schools comply but are not adequately reimbursed by the Feds nor the State to cover the costs. In a local Dist. it costs $50,000 a yr. for 1 student. A study shows Idaho is $100 million short in adequately funding special ed. We CAN and MUST do better! Idaho made broad budget cuts across the board. I felt we should have looked individually at each budget and cut accordingly. Some units can withstand the 5% or more, but others cannot. We need to find solutions immediately as we are hurting our most vulnerable citizens.
Friends, please VOTE in the primary. Many people skip this election and wait to the general. In Idaho, the primary is the MOST IMPORTANT election. A recent survey shows approx. 70% of Idahoans are unhappy with the direction we are heading in our state. The only way we change directions, is to vote for reasonable, and commonsense legislators who will listen and work for YOU, the people. We are at a crossroads in Idaho. We can do business as usual, or we can take bold steps by voting for CHANGE. Please vote McCann for Senate in District 6. I will bring your voice and your issues to Boise and will BOLDLY stand up for you in the Idaho Senate.
Campaign Statement I will prioritize housing affordability by creating equity-building pathways for first-time buyers and defending healthcare autonomy between doctors and patients. I also will protect our public lands from private sale to ensure continued access for fishing, camping, and recreation. With 25 years in real estate and asset management, I bring deep financial expertise and a proven ability to manage complex budgets and advocate for sustainable development. Addressing the housing inventory crisis, healthcare access, and ensuring our public schools are fully funded without government interference in curriculum are the primary challenges in District 6. As a Lewiston native, I am committed to a "Liberty for All" platform that keeps Idaho accessible

My primary goal is to ensure Idaho remains a place where families can thrive and our public lands are protected. I will champion affordable housing by creating programs that help first-time homebuyers while keeping our neighborhoods in the hands of residents rather than out-of-state corporations. I am committed to healthcare access and defending medical freedom, ensuring decisions remain between patients and doctors, not by politicians. Crucially, I will fight for robust public-school funding to ensure every Idaho child receives a high-quality education regardless of their zip code. I will also prioritize public safety and civil rights, upholding constitutional protections and the dignity of every community member.
With 25 years of experience in real estate and asset management, I bring the business acumen necessary to manage complex budgets and find common-ground solutions. As a semi-retired business owner and a bilingual professional with a degree in finance, I understand how to ensure a government remains efficient and accountable. Beyond my professional background, my lived experience as a single mother has shaped my resilience and my understanding of the daily struggles Idaho families face. I am not a career politician; I am a native of Lewiston who understands both the economic levers of our state and the practical needs of our citizens, making me uniquely prepared to provide steady, common-sense leadership in Boise.
The most pressing challenge in District 6 is the housing crisis. We must increase inventory and create pathways for ownership to keep neighborhoods in the hands of residents, not corporations. We must also manage growth without sacrificing our rural heritage or the health of our public lands and water rights. Furthermore, we must address healthcare instability in rural areas to ensure essential services remain accessible. Finally, the atmosphere of political division hinders progress; I intend to address this by focusing on fiscal responsibility and building bridges across the aisle to deliver results that protect our democracy and improve the lives of North Idahoans while upholding the civil rights of every community member.
I am a native of Lewiston with deep roots in District 6, and I am running because "political complacency" is no longer an option. I believe you deserve a Senator who views government like a business—one that must be solvent, transparent, and accountable to you. I am committed to protecting our democracy, defending your rights, and ensuring that our children can afford to live and work in the state they call home. Whether we are discussing education, infrastructure, or the freedom to enjoy our outdoors, I will lead with integrity and practical experience. I respectfully ask for your vote so we can work together to build a stable, prosperous, and inclusive future for all of Idaho.
