Lieutenant Governor; Idaho
Four experiences have shaped me.
As a small business owner and father, I know the first hand the pressures facing many Idahoans in housing, healthcare, childcare, and education.
As a Nampa mayoral candidate, we visited 7,000 homes and made 7,500 calls. Idahoans feel ignored. As a Black man, I understand that personally.
As performing artist Elijah Rock, I've performed across the U.S. and 22 nations — learning to genuinely connect with any audience. That skill is essential to represent all Idahoans.
As a nonprofit founder, I co-founded The Elijah Rock Foundation Inc. in my father's honor — a Navy veteran living with Alzheimer's. I've built coalitions with universities, caregivers, communities. Practical, bipartisan, people centered.
As Lt. Governor, I will focus on making state government work for Idahoans again — especially working families, rural communities, and those left behind. As President of the Senate, I'll elevate what matters most: expanding healthcare access, housing affordability, childcare, public education, and protecting our public lands. These aren't partisan issues — they're kitchen-table issues. I'll work with the Governor and legislative leaders to set honest budget priorities that reflect real needs. Idaho faces a serious budget shortfall, a depleted wildfire fund, and cuts in services that will impact all Idahoans. My day-one focus will be to navigate those challenges responsibly and with genuine bipartisan cooperation.
Most immediately, Idaho's budget shortfall didn't happen by accident. Poor forecasting, a private school tax credit, and tax cuts favoring the wealthy created a $496 million deficit. The rainy-day fund is gone, and FY 2027 looks even worse.
The across-the-board cuts employed by the State House is a bad strategy. It ignores the critical needs of Idahoans.
The answer to this fiscal mess is through thoughtful and practical reprioritization. The goal is to limit the impact of these budget cuts on healthcare, public safety and wildfire management, education among other areas while scrutinizing where cuts cause the least harm. We also need to reassess whether recent tax credits are fiscally sustainable.
I'd be honored to be your Lt. Governor.
Yes, I'm a Democrat — and I'm Black. Not to center on identity, but because I know what it’s like to be unrepresented by those making decisions. That experience connects me with working families, rural communities, and Idahoans who feel the Statehouse isn't listening.
As a Blue Dog Democrat — guided by results, not ideology. Fiscal conservatism, honest budgeting, expanding healthcare, investing in education, public safety, protecting public lands, and giving communities control of their tax dollars. These aren't partisan priorities. They're Idaho priorities.
What I bring is a business owner's pragmatism, and a pastor's heart. Idaho deserves a Lt. Governor who shows up —for all of it, for all of you.
