The City Council features a Mayor, elected at large, and 5 Councilmembers, elected from 5 single member districts. The Mayor and City Council have 3-year terms, staggered so that 2 positions are up for election each year. The Mayor and Councilmembers serve without pay. If no candidate receives at least 50% of the votes, there will be a runoff election. I have served two special terms on the Council, totaling three years of experience focused on infrastructure, public safety, and accountability. I advocated for creating a Grants Coordinator position that has secured more than $5 million in external funding, reducing taxpayer burden while advancing key projects. I supported implementation of a Real Time Crime Center strengthening proactive policing. My work emphasizes long-term planning, including infrastructure upgrades and technology improvements that increase transparency and efficiency.
Effective budgeting starts with understanding. First, I reviewed the city budget line by line with the Finance Director & City Manager to understand the process. I continue this independently by submitting questions to the City Manager promoting accountability & efficiency. Service usage data & performance trends guide financial decisions, prioritizing programs that deliver the greatest benefit to residents. By continuously monitoring demand & outcomes, we can invest in high-value services, adjust spending where necessary & maintain strong service levels while remaining fiscally responsible.
The city should maintain cooperative relationships with state and federal agencies when those partnerships enhance public safety and emergency preparedness. Working with agencies such as the U.S. Department of Homeland Security allows access to information sharing, training resources, and grant opportunities that help protect residents from both domestic and foreign threats. Our primary responsibility is always the safety and well-being of our residents, and intergovernmental collaboration should be guided by that principle.
Our city already has policies and procedures in place to protect residents from discrimination. The priority moving forward should be consistent enforcement and accountability to ensure those policies work as intended.
Clear expectations, transparent processes, and fair enforcement help build public trust and ensure all residents are treated with respect and equal protection under city policies.
The city’s transportation priority should be providing residents with reliable, accessible & cost-effective mobility options. DART is moving toward a more flexible service model allowing member cities to tailor services based on usage. As this evolves, the city should evaluate which services residents use most & consider opting out of underutilized programs. As autonomous transportation services & technologies expand the city should explore innovative alternatives that may offer improved coverage and cost efficiency.
Redevelopment is both the city’s greatest challenge & its greatest opportunity. Farmers Branch has valuable but aging commercial & residential assets that require reinvestment & modernization. The city must focus on strategic partnerships, thoughtful planning, and policies that encourage responsible redevelopment while protecting existing neighborhoods and taxpayers. If managed well, redevelopment can expand the tax base, revitalize underutilized areas, and position Farmers Branch for long-term economic sustainability.

We need to grow the tax base so we can buy and provide the things our residents need. A productive way to do that is through new construction of homes and businesses and through recruiting new businesses.
We support law enforcement. We support and uphold the laws of the United States. If other entities ask, we will provide assistance.
I support equal city services, policies, procedures, and guidelines for all residents.
We need to better partner with DART, make known the services that DART already provides, get more people using the system, and better market to promote it.
Challenges. We need to responsibly manage the growth that we are expecting. With growth comes needs: infrastructure, police, fire, water, and sewer. We have great amenities to accommodate the growth. Our roadways will see more traffic. We can get cars off the road by encouraging the use of DART.
Opportunities. We have many Boards and Commissions. More people can actively participate and get involved in our city.
