U. S. Representative District 3

U.S. House of Representatives makes and passes federal laws. The House is one of Congress’s two chambers (the other is the U.S. Senate), and part of the federal government’s legislative branch. The number of voting representatives in the House is fixed by law at no more than 435, proportionally representing the population of the 50 states. Among other duties, representatives introduce bills and resolutions, offer amendments and serve on committees. All appropriation and revenue bills must originate in the House. The House of Representatives has the sole Power of Impeachment.

Please upload a video telling us why you are running for US District 3 Representative?

Which federal issues do you view as having the most impact on Indiana?

Would you support the SAVE Act's requirement for documentary proof of citizenship to register and vote for federal elections, and if so, how would you address concerns that it could disenfranchise millions of eligible U.S. citizens who lack immediate access to such documents like a passport or birth certificate that matches their current name?

How would you as a Legislator ensure oversight to maintain balance between immigration customs enforcement (ICE) with due process safeguards?

I would seek amendments to the bill addressing the issue of name changes. However, I believe that it is not unreasonable to expect proof of who you are and eligibility to vote.
Our immigration system is broken and has been for a long time. However, two wrongs don't make a right. I would seek out advice and opinion from both law enforcement and our immigrant populations in Northeast Indiana before weighing in on legislation.

The most pressing issue is the erosion of our fundamental principles as a functioning government. Without a Congress to hold the executive in check and accountable for the ways this administration has frayed our Constitution and civil rights of its citizens, must be a priority before we can address the affordability crisis we are facing. Which is a crisis also manufactured by this administration
No. The SAVE Act is a solution looking for a problem. We have the federally required REAL ID, which already requires several forms of identification to prove your residency and status. You are already required to provide a photo State Issued ID when you go to vote on election day in Indiana. The hoops required to jump through for the SAVE Act for women who have changed their name through marriage, divorce, or children through adoption are a burden that is unnecessary for a problem that isn't widespread nor already caught and enforced by the judicial system.
ICE was an overreaction to 9/11. We do not need to have an organization with a bloated budget whose sole purpose is to overreact to a misdemeanor that can be handled in immigration court. ICE, especially this current group of agents, needs to be abolished and prosecuted for the civil rights violations it has committed against the people in the United States. Border Patrol Agents and the Border Patrol Department need more resources, more training, and better immigration legislation to handle this situation.
